The Chicago Bears ended their three-game winning streak Sunday, October 4, 2020. Other than the Seahawks and the Bills 4-0 record, their 3-1 record is not bad after four games.
Game Day Time Change
The game was played at 3:25 p.m. CST, not noon, as originally scheduled. The decision was made to fill the CBS vacancy left when the NFL decided to postpone Sunday’s game between the Chiefs and Patriots after each team had a positive COVID-19 test.
The league said that the Chiefs-Patriots game will be played Monday or Tuesday because New England’s star quarterback Cam Newton reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus.
This shift in the team’s start times will give them even less time between the end of the game and their Thursday night matchup against the Buccaneers. This will be the first 3:25 p.m. game they will play this season.
Nick Foles had a rough first start with the team, completing 26 of 42 passes for 249 yards with a touchdown and an interception, averaging 5.93 yards per attempt. The Bears offense failed to record a touchdown until late in the game.
Fifth Ranked Defense
The Monsters of The Midway’s fifth-ranked defense held the Colts to 289 yards and 4.3 yards per play while missing tackles and blowing coverages. But Indianapolis did not turn the football over, which ended up being the difference in a defensive battle.
The Bears’ rushing game was horrific, to say the least. They finished with just 16 carries for 28 yards, throwing the ball 72.9 percent of the time. Chicago rushed for over 130 yards in each of its first three games, so Sunday’s performance was very disappointing.
The team miss Tarik Cohen and need a number two running back — not Corrdarrelle Patterson — if they want to have a chance to win the NFC North.
