Along with northern Illinois, the Chicago area may see severe thunderstorms scattered with heavy winds and even the possibility of hail. Wind speeds can reach as high as 60 mph which can pose a possible increase in the risk of falling debris. Arrival may come as soon by 3 p.m to 10 p.m, bringing with the sizeable hail with the ability to damage vehicles, and homes, according to forecasters.

These storms will travel in a cold front that will pass through Chicago adding cooler weather during the end of the week. The Thunderstorms will pass as soon as early Wednesday, weekend temperatures will reach a high of 70s.
In a warning by Meteorologists “If storms do indeed become severe, large hail and damaging winds would be the primary threats.”
“A threat of severe weather exists (Tuesday) from the Great Lakes down through the southern High Plains,” forecasters said. “Much cooler temperatures to arrive across the Plains and Midwest through the middle of the week.”
The tornado threat to Chicago remains low, but the risk of winds and hail still provides a very real risk. With warmer weather, there is a possibility that the atmosphere stabilizes providing the chances of reducing the chances of serve storms developing later tonight. Additional rain can arrive on Wednesday with temperatures reaching the mid-50s scattered showers may further persist all the way to Thursday morning. Friday and Saturday may reach temperatures as high as 80° with additional night showers on Saturday night.
