OJ Simpson’s Life
OJ Simpson had quite a great yet somewhat painful life. When he was younger, he was an astounding football player, and received many forms of recognition. One of these forms of recognition was the Heisman trophy, which is awarded to the best college football player. This was awarded to him in 1968.
After playing amazing college football, he then was elected by the Buffalo Bills, and spent 11 years with them before retiring. Furthermore, because of how great he was at the sport, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1985. Therefore, OJ Simpson had an extravagant life, leaving an important legacy within the sport of American football.
OJ Simpson Passes Away
As of today, OJ Simpson has passed away after his battle with cancer. “He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren,” mentioned the family of OJ Simpson on X. Despite trying all these years trying to win his battle with cancer, it eventually became too much to handle.
OJ Simpson’s Legal Troubles
Despite having an amazing football career and being inducted into the Hall of Fame, OJ had gotten himself into many legal troubles after retiring. His former wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman, were murdered on June 12th, 1994. OJ Simpson was a major suspect for this murder, and he was taken to trial as a result.
However, he was acquitted of those charges in 1995. Despite being acquitted of those charges, a civil jury still found him liable, and was ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages to the families. However, this does not end the legal troubles that OJ had gotten himself into.
Later after this trial, he was yet again taken to court in 2007 after committing robbery, burglary, and conspiracy to commit a crime. He was then sentenced to 33 years behind bars as a result of this crime. However, he did not serve out his sentence, as he was let out on parole for good behavior in 2017.
OJ Simpson’s Legacy
It truly is unfortunate to see the way that OJ Simpson led his life after football. This really ruined the perception that millions of Americans had about him. However, despite this, it is still very saddening to see a football legend passing away.
