What Just Happened?
Federal Homeland Security investigators, agents, and other law enforcement officers are inspecting music entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs’ properties. So far, they’ve raided his mansions in both Miami and Los Angeles. Video and pictures of such went viral Monday afternoon. NBC News has also revealed that weapons were discovered at both locations. It’s not immediately clear what kind or who they belong to. Combs’s lawyer asserted in a statement on Tuesday that his client is “innocent and will continue to fight” to clear his name, notwithstanding the searches of the properties. Since November, producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, ex-girlfriend Cassie, and a Jane Doe have all accused Combs of human trafficking.
The lawsuit states that Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sued due to sexual assault allegations.
“Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested or had their travel rights restricted in any way,” the statement stated. The combination of this unprecedented ambush and a sophisticated, well-coordinated media presence causes a hasty assessment of Combs. It amounts to nothing more than a witch hunt based on baseless allegations raised in a civil action.
Investigators seized phones from Diddy, who has also gone by the name Puff Daddy at Miami Opa-Locka Executive Airport. Brendan Paul, who is connected to Combs, was taken into custody by Miami-Dade police at the airport on suspicion of possessing cocaine and marijuana.
“Lil Rod” Jones Jr. Alleged Victim
Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr., who filed a lawsuit against Sean Combs in February, is accusing Cuba Gooding Jr. of sexual assault. Seemingly, he’s been roped in with Diddy, being sued for sexual assault as well. Jones, who previously worked as a producer for Combs, alleged in a civil complaint in New York federal court last month that Combs sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him for over a year. Despite being mentioned in the initial filing, Gooding was added as a defendant in a revised version of the complaint on Monday.
In the complaint, Jones claims that the Oscar winner “began touching, groping, and fondling [his] legs, his upper inner thighs near his groin, the small of his back near his buttocks, and his shoulders” while on a yacht in the U.S. Virgin Islands rented by Combs in January 2023. Jones believes that Combs was grooming him in order to give him off to friends. When Combs introduced Gooding and Jones, he allegedly suggested that “Cuba get to know Jones better.”
Shawn Holley, Combs’ attorney, stated in a statement when the case was first filed in February: “Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar who filed a $30 million lawsuit shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday. His reckless name-dropping about events is pure fiction and simply did not happen. This is nothing more than a transparent attempt to garner headlines. We have overwhelming, indisputable proof that his claims are complete lies,” Holley added at the time. “Our attempts to share this proof with Mr. Jones’ attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, have been ignored.”
Prince Harry Roped In Sean Combs’ “Stuff”
Diddy’s party days with Prince Harry may be coming back to haunt him because of his name appearing in court records. Harry’s inclusion in the case as a friend would undoubtedly cause him discomfort. He is not being accused of anything, but it will bring back memories of his past association with the musician.
One could claim that Harry’s name-calling is incredibly unfair. Positively, his naming in the suit exposes the particular need for members of the British royal family to be ultra-cautious about whom they associate with and under what conditions.
Lawyers Speak Out
An attorney for Sean “Diddy” Combs issued a statement on the rapper’s behalf on Tuesday. According to Aaron Dyer, who spoke with ET, “Mr. Combs’ homes were the target of a flagrant abuse of military-grade force yesterday. There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated. Mr. Combs was never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities.”
Lawyers are firmly denying allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs under sexual assault.
There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.” Helicopter footage captured the raid of the Beverly Hills home owned by Diddy who’s faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct.
Diddy’s Response To Recent Allegations
Although Sean Combs is being sued under these sexual assault allegations, he remains still and calm. When Combs and Cassie had their settlement, he took to Instagram. “Enough is enough,” Combs wrote on Instagram after the most recent allegations emerged. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.”
“Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday,” he continued. “Let me absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth.”
