16-Year-Old Shot and Killed Identified
A 16-Year-old was fatally shot on the West Side of Chicago. The shooting took place in the Austin Area where she has been identified. She was taken to Loretto Hospital, located at 645 South Central Avenue, where she was pronounced dead.

Furthermore, around 8:13 p.m. the victim was shot in the eye on the 5000 block of West Washington Boulevard.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 16-year-old as Jamica Wright. Witnesses told police the teen allegedly had a firearm.
Area Four detectives are currently finding evidence, however, no one has yet to be identified.
Another Teen Killed Before Last Night
Just before the 16-year-old was killed last night, another teenage girl has been shot and killed, 24 hours before. Also identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, 16-year-old Tyana Bosley, who was pronounced dead on Monday Night.
Additionally, two victims were found in the 7100 block of South Yates Boulevard, before 10 p.m. according to police.
A 35-year-old woman was taken to the University of Chicago medical center, and she is in good condition. However, the teen did not make it.
Again, no arrest has been made. Police said two men fled the scene.
Crimes in the city have skyrocketed over the years, especially since 2021. It has become more severe and spiked 88%, according to the Chicago Police Department, and there’s no telling when it’ll reduce.
What Is Brandon Johnson Doing About Crimes in Chicago?
Brandon Johnson, the new mayor of Chicago, released a 223-page report on a public safety plan, called “A Blueprint for Creating a More Just and Vibrant City for All.”
The report covers human rights, education, public safety, transportation, and more issues revolving around the city.
Mayor Johnson is determined to enhance public safety programs by improving systems, staffing, and administration. He aims to increase accountability in policing and ensure the safety of black and brown communities. Additionally, he plans to expand support for victims and survivors and guarantee safety for over-policed communities.
