‘Debt Ceiling’ Issue Facing Congress Is Critical

It Is Unlikely That Five Percent of Americans Understand What It Means

Please, I beg you, don’t believe the lies and misdirection offered by today’s Republicans in Name Only (RINOs). They are bad actors, knowing that few Americans understand our nation’s economic system.

But first, let’s tell the truth. If you understand how America works, you know that Congress has only one real job. It is their job to protect the future of our country. Therefore, ensuring that our federal agencies remain functional, and our debts are paid on time must be priority number one.

However, Congress has failed to do the one thing it must on time in nearly every year of the 21st century. Although they are aware of the facts, they bicker and attack each other like small children in a schoolyard.

The crucial issue is the ‘debt ceiling.’ You might understand it better by comparing it to your household budget. In government, it means lifting our nation’s spending limits to cover the cost of money already spent. It is not involved with future spending as right-wing politicians would have you believe.

Another fact. History proves that whenever Republicans are in control of our government, not only does the working class suffer, America falls into greater debt.

In recent history, the last four Republican presidents shared a single economic policy that failed each and every time.

Ronald Reagan created “supply side economics,” although the more accurate term is “trickle down economics.” His administration reduced taxes for the wealthy and large corporations, claiming that they would become “job creators” and grow America’s economy. This never happened. The super-rich put their additional riches into offshore accounts.

Reagan left office with our nation more than one trillion dollars in debt. George H.W. Bush lost the 1992 election because he was forced to raise taxes because Reagan’s policies failed miserably. George W. Bush continued to believe in trickle-down economics and nearly placed our nation into another depression. His failures never included the cost of two unwinnable wars which were draining our treasury. Then came Donald Trump.

His record as a “businessman” is filled with huge failures and few successes. President Barack Obama left office with our nation’s economy in full recovery mode. Not only did Trump reduce the taxes of the rich and large corporations, but he also spent money for his own use like a sailor on a two-day shore pass.

Bush 43 and Trump are the reasons the debt ceiling must be raised drastically. Our country is in enormous debt because uninformed voters elected incompetent, old, white men to lead our country.

The last time our nation had no debt, and actually reported a surplus, was under the Bill Clinton administration between 1993 and 2001.

Senior Senator John Cornyn may not be the worst Republican from Texas; that dubious “honor” belongs to Ted Cruz. However, Cornyn is another right-wing prevaricator.

The once Grand Ol’ Party has used a single baseless and misleading attack to discredit President Biden’s economic agenda by constantly using the word “socialism.” Cornyn is spreading the lie that increasing the debt limit is an effort to spend taxpayer dollars to establish new socialist policies.

During an interview with Sen. Cornyn, CNN Anchor Jim Scuitto said:

Today’s reminder the debt ceiling is about past spending commitments, not new spending.

Cornyn responded:

No. Otherwise we would have already exceeded the debt limit. This is for future spending.

Republicans are good at only one thing; looking directly into your eyes and lying.

I beg one more thing from all of you, become an informed citizen. Turn off the “boob tube” and read. Never trust a single source, read multiple articles about the same subject, and make your own decisions. Moreover, please, please do not allow yourself to be brainwashed by watching “Fox Noise” for hours each day. Seek the truth.
