Five teenagers — between the ages of 14 and 17 — have been hospitalized after suffering gunshot wounds acquired near Aurora Central High School in Colorado. The Aurora Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in Nome Park around 1 p.m. PT.
Authorities have stated that “multiple people” have been shot and five teenagers have been hospitalized. Additional Information about everyone’s injuries has not been disclosed.
The unknown shooting suspect is no longer at the scene, according to local authorities. The high school has been placed under a “secure perimeter,” however, it is not on lockdown.
Numerous news outlets have shared this story on social media. Jason replied to NBCNews’s tweet, “Colorado is mass shooting capital.” Another person tweeted, “This has to be at least the second or third mass shooting in Aurora Colorado, wtf is happening there?..”
Other people have replied to the tweet that they expect “Republicans complaining about mental illness and defending gun rights coming up in 3..2..1.”
Under CNN’s Twitter post; Dr. Thunder replied, “When is America going to finally get rid of the Second Amendment? Ridiculous we have a law responsible for the injuries and death of Americans on a daily basis.”
One of the witnesses to the incident described what he heard, “a lot of gunshots [and] a lot of kids running.”
This incident is still being investigated and more details will be updated as they are released.
