America’s Golden Girl, Betty White, and Canadian Superstar, Ryan Reynolds, continue their playful banter into 2022. The pair co-starred in the film “The Proposal” alongside America’s Sweetheart, Sandra Bullock.
A few weeks prior to the iconic actress’s 100th birthday, she told People that she wondered if Reynolds would ever overcome his crush on her. Over the years the “Deadpool” star has joked that his onscreen grandmother is one of his “ex-girlfriends.”
White told People, “I’ve heard Ryan can’t get over his thing for me but Robert Redford is The One.” Reynolds has admitted to being a longtime fan of White and who can blame him. She has graced America with her humorous outtakes and looks for decades.
The actress can be seen in such shows as “The Golden Girls,” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Hot Cleveland,” and “The Golden Palace.” Of course, the iconic star has been in numerous films as well such as “Lake Placid,” “Ponyo,” “You Again,” and “The Lost Valentine.”
Recently, Reynolds has responded to White’s playful banter that he has not gotten over her. On his Twitter page, he wrote that he was “absolutely sick of the media exploiting past relationships just to drive clicks.”
This is not the first time the Canadian actor has joked about him and White being in a relationship. For her 97th birthday, he wrote on Instagram, “I don’t usually post about ex-girlfriends. But Betty’s special. Happy Birthday to the one and only @bettymwhite.”
The year before that he shared an image of Deadpool with a hot dog and martini — two of the Golden Girl’s favorite items to which she accredits her long life — in front of White’s photo.
For years the two have brought joy and laughter into households across the nation and the world. Many are looking forward to seeing what Reynolds does for the iconic legend’s 100th birthday.
One person — Ben O’Connor — shared on Twitter the hilarious skit with Reynolds, Bullock, and White. He captioned the video, “Must of been a love hate relationship…”
Michelle Engel tweeted, “Aw, the article was really sweet, though. May we all aspire to Betty White levels of badasserie.”
Chris Sparacino replied to Reynolds’s tweet saying, “You’re truly an awesome, person, Ryan. Never stop being the person that you are. Thank you so much for making me laugh so many times in my life at times when I wanted to cry. I don’t think you could’ve ever given me a better gift than that.
Thank you again. #LoveforDeadpool.”
Molly Anne Jacobs hilarious replied to Reynolds, “Dude, you have to move on, because she clearly has. Her Tinder account was deactivated. Go find another Golden Girl to wear matching snuggies and eat 10 year old hard butterscotch candy with. It’s for the best. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time.”
Another person — going only by the name Jason — shared the funny skit the pair made in a reply to Reynolds’s tweet saying, ‘For those who have NOT seen it, here’s some totally unscripted, behind-the-scenes shenanigans, from The Proposal. You’ll see Ryan and Betty, with the lovely Sandra Bullock.”
