Creative Scott is one of the most qualified candidates to become the 24th Ward’s new alderman. He has owned a business in this neighborhood for 30 years and has created other business owners in the process. He is what people mean when they say “Black excellence.” Scott is a business owner, a father, and a firearm safety instructor. His ultimate goal is to create another Black Wall Street right in the heart of North Lawndale. This is a very lofty goal. However, with his experience as a business owner in North Lawndale, this goal is truly attainable.
During the pandemic, many people learned about what Black Wall Street was. For those who don’t know, Black Wall Street is a name for several neighborhoods that were highly economically developed after the post-reconstruction era period. These Black neighborhoods were thriving economically and socially. They owned homes and businesses, and many of them even had their own hospital. However, white supremacists burned them down.
Scott’s Importance
What is so important about Scott’s campaign is that the city of Chicago has neglected North Lawndale for decades. If Scott can manage to create a Black Wall Street in North Lawndale, then this entire neighborhood would change for the better. Sure, not everyone can own a business or wants to own a business, but at least Scott will create the opportunity for that choice. Part of the problem is that North Lawndale’s dollars constantly go outside of the community, but Creative Scott wants to put a stop to that.
As a businessman, he sees a lot of potential in North Lawndale. Not the kind of potential that makes grandmothers leave their homes, but the kind that creates Black Wall Streets. The problem is that the Lawndalian dollar is going to places not owned by Lawndalians. These dollars end up going to a Walmart or a Target, but never to places in the community.
Part of that problem is that there simply aren’t any places to get certain things in the community. For example, if a person wants high-quality fruits or vegetables in North Lawndale, they may be a bit hard to come by. However, with Scott’s vision, there are places all over North Lawndale to get fresh produce and the things that people need. There would be no need to go outside the community to get anything.
The Vision
That is what Creative Scott is at the end of the day. He is a man with a grand vision for the community of North Lawndale. He has lived here his entire life and has been pouring his heart out and placing his hard-earned money on projects in North Lawndale.
Ultimately, Scott knows how to create a better future for North Lawndale, because he has seen so many sides of it. He wasn’t always the great man one sees today, rather he has had his own journey of growth.
However, throughout all the hardships, trials, and tribulations, Creative Scott is a man that never gives up. He is a true Lawndalian if there ever was one. This intense drive to never give up shows in his work ethic on the job.
What this says about him is that even when everything is on the line and the stakes are high, he can pull through for the people that need him. His drive is not only going to help him win, but it will help him succeed as an alderman. Creative Scott is the man for the job of alderman. He is the businessman that will lead North Lawndale to a greater tomorrow.
