Chicago is having its upcoming Humanities Spring Fest this year in 2023 and its lineup of performances will last from April to June. There will be tons of entertainment and talk with important people such as Susanna Hoffs, a pop star now a well-known novelist. Susanna Hoff’s most notable work in the music industry for her work as the co-founder of the “Bangles.”
‘This Bird Has Flown’
She has produced three platinum albums. Additionally, she is able to consistently produce quality pop songs. Her career has reached a breakthrough as she is now making her journey into the life of a novelist with her new debut novel, “This Bird Has Flown.” In her story, she brings light to the life of music, secrets, and strong relationships.
In an interview with Mark Bazer, host of “The Interview Show,” at the Chicago Humanities Spring Fest, they will discuss her novel, her music career, and her life as a revered pop star. Susanna Hoffs will be the next stage performer. There will be dinner and drinks at the Chop Shop before and after the event. This event will be held on April 13, 2023, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’
On another note, there will be an event at Spring Fest with the famous writer and comedian Scott Aukerman. Scott’s podcast has made a name for himself, “Comedy Bang! Bang!,” filled with all types of funny characters. His podcast is now available as a book and features all new material and opinions from the iconic show.
Join in as Mark Bazer hosts an interview with Scott Aukerman with the inside scope of his new book. The event will be held on Saturday, Apr 29, 2023, 6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. CT. After the event, there will be a book signing hosted by the author.
Brunch With The Bunch
On Sunday, Apr 30, 2023, 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CT, there will be an event with light brunch with other Chicago Humanities Members.

Also on site will be Chicago’s very own PARA.MAR Dance Theatre — a ballet repertory company based in Chicago. Founded in 2020 and directed by award-winning choreographer, Stephanie Martinez. PARA.MAR is all about togetherness, and the belief that dance is an essential form of human expression.
Their mission is to empower people and elevate the many themes through contemporary ballet. Deeply rooted in the excellence of artistic expression, their performances are reflective unique identities of the communities in which they perform.
Spring Fest’s Canceled Events
The event “Hebru Brantley In Conversation” has been canceled. For those who have already purchased their tickets, refunds will be issued automatically, along with confirmation via email. For those who don’t know who Hebru Brantley is a revered African American pop star who is known for his works of fine art and hip-hop, while also being mentioned by famous such as Jay-Z and LeBron James.
Brantley uses the themes of the hero protagonist to express ideas of nostalgia, the mind itself, power, and hope. His works are admired and collected by names such as Jay-Z and Beyonce, Lenny Kravitz, George Lucas, and Rahm Emanuel. On another note, he has also done collaborations with famous brands such as Nike, Hublot, and Adidas.
One of his major influences was the South Side of Chicago’s AfriCOBRA movement in the 1960s and 70s. Brantley uses his talents for mural work as a way to portray his themes, using a wide range of mediums from oil, acrylic, watercolor, and spray paint, even some to coffee and tea.
Even though they have canceled this event with Brantley there will still be a rescheduled time for this event in a future season. There are tons of other events coming to Chicago with the Spring Fest Event of 2023, so don’t miss out on a chance to see some of your favorite performances and celebrities.
