From Ms. Rezai

Dear Essential Workers,

Webster Elementary students recognize the hard work and dedication you put into your job in making sure North Lawndale residents have their basic needs met. We are particularly grateful for all the sacrifices you have made in caring for our needs during COVID.

We hope these letters will spark joy in your hearts and the assurance that your efforts are not going unnoticed because we appreciate you!

This initiative or “service project” stems from our school’s “Caring Theme of the Month” where March was “Caring for City” and this was a tangible way we thought we could give back to this great city of ours. We assigned each grade a different North Lawndale organization that would receive letters of gratitude. Our 5th graders were assigned to media outlets.

Thank you for everything you do!!

With gratitude,

Ms Nilufar Rezai
Webster’s School Counselor

Keep Us Safe

Dear media outlet staff,

Thank you for keeping us updated during COVID so we can be safe. The city thanks the people that work in news for helping keep us safe. When COVID-19 kept us at home, it was not good, but thanks to all of the media outlets for making sure we are good and healthy. That is why the news is good for us.

Thank You

Dear media outlet staff,

Thank you for keeping people alert on the news. You stayed at work while COVID was around instead of staying at home so people would know what’s going on in the world and keep them safe. We say thank you for everything you do. I say, keep up the good work and stay motivated.

Keeping in Touch

Thank you media outlets for taking the time to keep us informed about the things that were going on in our community. I also want to thank you for keeping in touch with us, and letting us know the local news that’s been happening. I really appreciate your dedication and hard work. Even though COVID was happening you guys still took the time to inform us. I really appreciate you guys, and thank you for all the hard work you put in. Thank you guys so much!

Dear media outlet staff,

Thanks for giving us advice about the world when COVID was going around and we are thankful for you guys services and we are very grateful for your services and we are very grateful for you guys still being able to work during quarantine. We are thankful for you guys warning us when something is happening or something and if it wasn’t for you guys we wouldn’t even know about COVID, so that’s why we want to thank you guys for everything. We also thank you guys for everything you have done for us. Thank you. You guys are very thoughtful for still working during the quarantine time.

Working for the City

Dear media outlet,

Me and my classmates are grateful for your work for our city and making it a better place and helping our gas leaks and making sure our plants are getting water and sunlight and telling us what’s going to happen during quarantine. Thank you media outlet staff for helping us too, making sure we go to school, making sure we have water and there are even more things you all helped us with.

What’s Going On

Dear media outlet,

Thank you for taking the time to inform us about everything that has been going on in Chicago and the rest of the world. We really appreciate the things you warn us about. Like if we have bad weather, or if we will have bad traffic. So I just want to say thank you for everything you do.

Essential Workers

Dear essential workers,

Thank you for working during the pandemic when other places were closed. We really appreciate you for putting us before yourself and you all faced the worst of the pandemic. I cannot imagine the stress you face daily and thank you for your dedication and service. We all respect your great work and your humility. Even though we all needed to be safe, you still risked your life for our health and well beings.
You’re a HERO to our community!

By Toni Hawkins

Appreciate You

Thank you media outlet staff for letting us know about the things that were going on in Chicago. I appreciate you because you helped us out to tell us about the news, violence, and the bad weather and the breaking news. I appreciate you all because you all tell us what’s going on around in this world. Thank you so much for all the things you do.

Staying Connected

Dear media outlet,

I am writing this letter to thank you for your services. Also for letting everyone know what is going on outside before they leave home. I also wanted to thank you for giving Chicago the news of the day. I’m thanking you for making us newspapers, magazines, social media and radio. I’m also thanking you all for keeping me connected to the world. Thank you for keeping me updated with the news and more.

Vaccine Information

Dear media outlet,

Thank you for keeping us up to date with COVID and vaccine information because it was hard staying up to date since news reporters were quarantined so there was no news, but you guys always kept us up to date with COVID and vaccine information.
