Davenport Building Collapse
There was a building that was located in Davenport, Iowa, that had collapsed. It was something impromptu too many people, especially those that were inside the building when it collapsed. There is a lot of anger that is being generated by the residents of Davenport. Therefore, there have been documents released that document the entire situation. “The city government of Davenport, Iowa, has released dozens of documents in connection with an apartment building that partially collapsed as three residents remain missing and the community demands answers,” according to ABC News. However, despite these documents being released, there are still 3 people missing that were inside the building when it collapsed.
Owner Makes an Accurate Prediction
There were certain instances in which the owner, Andrew Wold, had actually predicted this collapse before it actually happened. However, no one really paid much attention to Wold’s claims. “He wanted to cut the cost by cutting out the shoring and supporting of the building,” according to the Quad-City Times.
“Shoring” a building comes about only when a certain area is said to be unsafe. Wold himself had introduced the idea of shoring the building. “I said, ‘If we don’t do it this way exactly, I’m not putting my guys in there. Somebody is going to die,” according to Andrew Wold from Quad-City Times. However, this came at a really high cost. Eventually, an inspector came around, in which this building passed the initial inspection.
The Future of This Building, and Victims
There is hope among the residents of Davenport, Iowa, that these three missing victims are found and are alive. There is still a rescue operation that is going about. When it comes to the building, it is unsure if Andrew Wold will want to take on a rebuild operation, or if it will be completely demolished.
