The west side of Chicago has its very own gun safety program. Gun Camp is a gun safety and gun training program run by Creative Scott and Twista the rapper. Their organization helps people understand how to properly handle a firearm as opposed to improperly handling a firearm. What this means is that Gun Camp helps people learn things like not pointing a weapon at someone they don’t mean to harm. Guns are supposed to be tools for defense and self-preservation.
The Gun Camp teaches that guns are tools and that it is the way that the tool is used that determines its morality. “It’s not the firearm it’s the person behind them,” according to Creative Scott. The Gun Camp resides in Chicago, Illinois. Unfortunately, the city is known for its violent crime. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. Furthermore, with education about gun safety, the improper usage of guns can be combated. Finally, educating a few people about gun safety may create a greater culture of gun safety all across Chicago.

A Gun-Riddled Chicago
Chicago is known for its gun violence, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Chicago can look different and feel different as well. Gun violence has been a plague in this city for the past few decades, but it doesn’t have to be.
The city doesn’t have to be known for its gun violence and violence. Gun Camp is part of a national effort to lessen gun violence within America. The city, and America as a whole, needs more firearm safety awareness.
So many people get into accidents because they are using firearms improperly, and those accidents don’t need to happen. If more people understood how to keep themselves and others safe while using a firearm, then maybe there wouldn’t be so many accidental discharges. All in all, one can only hope that with more education people decide only to use their firearms for self-preservation and the protection of others.

Knowing the standard rules and regulations on the use of one’s firearm is one of the most important parts of owning a gun. Knowing things like never pointing the end of a firearm at oneself is extremely important. Many times people place their firearms in improper positions, and end up injuring themselves or someone else. This is the danger with people that aren’t trained to use firearms handling firearms. Educating people on the proper use of their firearms helps them to use their firearms in a safer capacity.
Educate the Youth About Firearms

Young people are the people who need this information the most. Unfortunately, it is young people who are seen on social media improperly handling their firearms. As said before, handling one’s firearm can result in accidents, injuries, and even death.
Young people are the future, and society must protect the future by making sure that every youth that handles a firearm knows how to handle it properly. Young people injuring themselves or others as a result of a misfire can and should be prevented. All in all, if someone is holding a gun, they need to know more than just how to squeeze it.
At the end of the day, educating people about the usage of guns is only one solution to gun violence. Gun violence is a complicated and nuanced issue, and firearm education is but one of many solutions to the problem. Though, if people are going to have a firearm and use it regularly, they should know how to use it safely.
