Tensions Between the U.S. and North Korea
There is already a huge tension that North Korea and the US have against each other. Therefore, crossing their border is forbidden under any circumstance, and if crossed, may result in a terrible punishment. However, if a US soldier were to cross the border, it is unknown how much worse the punishment would be.
Therefore, when stationed in those areas, it is important to be cautious when traveling. However, there has been an incident recently reported in regard to a border crossing that was most certainly to be accidental.
US Soldier Crossed Border and Is Now in Custody
There was an incident that was recently reported in which there was a US soldier crossed the border. This was most likely unbeknownst to the actual borderline. A plainclothed American soldier has been detained in North Korea Tuesday after crossing the Military Demarcation Line separating the country from South Korea, US officials told Fox News.
This can certainly be detrimental, as returning this soldier to the US may be a long process of its own. However, if this soldier is not returned, this could potentially escalate uncontrollably.

The Future of These Tensions
The US and North Korea are trying to find a resolution when it comes to returning this soldier. However, things are not looking as bright because of how the tensions have been escalating over the past decade, and incredibly quickly.
“Tension between the isolated North Korean regime of Kim Jong Un and the U.S., along with America’s key Asian allies South Korea and Japan, has soared over the last decade. After a false start at diplomacy under former President Donald Trump, the North has carried out a steady litany of missile and rocket tests — most of which are condemned by the West as violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions,” according to CBS News. Therefore, despite it being unclear what the future of this issue will be, it is safe to say tensions will be at an all-time high.
