Walt Disney’s Childhood Home
It may be a disbelief to many, but Disney’s childhood home was actually in Chicago. His father had originally built the home for only $800. Additionally, Walt Disney was homeschooled, which allowed him to be even more creative.
Walt Disney continued to work hard throughout his life, and eventually was able to create what we now know as Disney. Years of hard work and years of dedication to his craft, was enough to change the outlook of the future. Most, of which he was unfortunately not able to witness.
Additionally, his house was never actually opened to the public, for people to witness what was left behind. However, things changed since the beginning of the weekend. Thus, “allowing fans and enthusiasts to step into the early years of this iconic figure’s life,” according to Disney Dining.

Opinions of the Public
It is surreal to enter his home, and go back in time to his childhood. The fact that he had such a huge influence and it all began from this home, is fascinating to many. This is also a way to commemorate the anniversary of this brilliant man. Many fail to realize the impact that he has had especially in modern day. As aforementioned, he was not able to fully witness the impact that he had across the world.
Visitors also are granted access to being able to see all the different rooms that are within this home. Therefore, they are able to see the rooms in which the Disney’s ate, slept, and where Walt Disney himself was able to further his creativity. “As visitors explore the backyard, they can envision the young Disney brothers diligently working on their early animated creations, a testament to the determination and passion that would propel Walt Disney to greatness,” according to People.com. Therefore, there is so much history to see within this home, and so much to witness as visitors.
The Future of This Open House
There is a hope that this can remain open for the long run, and not just for certain special events. There are people that enjoy, in a way, reliving history, and want to continue visiting to further embrace the feeling of history. This is also a beautiful gesture by the city to open this home, and allow people to witness history in its full form. Therefore, there is a hope that this tradition continues, and more generations can witness the beautiful work that Walt Disney has done.
