Violence in Chicago
Violence has been at an all time high within the City of Chicago. This calls for a change within law enforcement, a positive change that can help decrease crime in the City. More and more people continue to feel unsafe within the City of Chicago, and less and less children are confident enough to go outside and to play even in their own front yards. This goes to show the amount of violence and the spike in violence that has been noticed across the city. Superintendent Larry Snelling is here to save Chicago.
Chicago Has A New ‘Top Cop’
There has been a new Superintendent of the CPD that has been appointed, who clearly has many people that are in favor of him. Many have said that he is a great person, who has built a solid community with his officers and his community. His name is Larry Snelling, born and raised in Englewood Chicago. “Raised in Englewood, Snelling is known for cultivating solid relationships within the community and with his officers. His viewpoint on finding equilibrium between assertive law enforcement and progressing reforms provides optimism for urban law enforcement’s current challenges,” according to Hoodline News.
Clearly, he has a mindset where he wants to enforce the law, to where people commit less crimes in general. Additionally, since he has built such a great community with his officers and his community, there will be many people that defend him, and support him at the same time. Snelling himself had a promise that he made to those that lived in Chicago. ““Through these changes, I promise to hear and listen to everyone across the city,” Snelling said. “To make our city stronger we need to do it together. No more time for adversarial relationships. We can agree to disagree, but we all need to come to the table,” according to WTTW News.
Brandon Johnson Appointing Chief Snelling
Brandon Johnson is completely sure that Chief Snelling was the best option for the role. Johnson understands that Snelling has a background full of love, while at the same time being able to enforce the law. Johnson also had some words to say when it comes to appointing Snelling. “He commands the highest respect of his brothers and sisters in the department. I’m fully confident in his ability to unify and strengthen these critical public servants. I’m confident that he can boost their morale, and implement constitutionally driven reforms that will ultimately create a safer Chicago,” according to NBC 5 News.
This appointment comes as Brandon Johnson continues to fight violence across the city. Since violence continues to prevail all throughout the city, Johnson appointing Snelling will hopefully be a big leap to fight violence and crime. There is a hope across the city that Chief Snelling can help solve the violence problem in Chicago.

Chief Snelling Stands With The Victims
Chief Snelling also stands heavily with victims of crime. Especially those that have been unheard of, or those that have been forgotten in the system. Chief Snelling wants to bring awareness to that, as well as bring justice to those that have been oppressed. “”To our survivors of violent crime, and our victims,” Snelling added, “I hear you, I see you and I stand with you,” according to NBC 5 News. Therefore, it seems that his priority will be not only those that are committing the crimes, but also those that are victims of crimes.
This appointment can surely change the way that many people see Chicago. Chief Snelling, and his officers, pledged from the beginning that they will do everything in their power to protect those in the City of Chicago.
