The Crisis Continues
Chicago continues to suffer with a huge influx of migrants. Seemingly, it does not seem like it ever ends. Chicago, each and every day, continues to lose resources because migrants continue to flood into the city. Despite every effort that the city tries to assist them, there are just too many to account for all of them. Therefore, it seems that the city is totally out of options when it comes down to what they can do to fix this problem. However, without the help from any other state, this problem may never boil down to a manageable state. St. Louis has made this crisis more manageable for Chicago.
St. Louis Comes To The Rescue
St. Louis has gone out of their way and noticed that the City of Chicago continues to suffer with an unmanageable influx of migrants. Therefore, they have decided to assist Chicago in being able not only to shelter migrants, but to offer jobs to them as well. This can certainly help the city better assist those that are already in Chicago, as well as provide them with their needed resources. “Groups in St. Louis are looking to relocate some of those asylum-seekers to their town, modeling the program after similar ones it did with Afghan refugees in recent years,” according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Therefore, there will be less and less migrants that are left unaccounted for, as both cities are working together. Additionally, Karlos Ramirez, vice president of Latino Outreach for the International Institute, also had some words to say about this particular partnership. “If the [migrants] are going to be in a better place, St. Louis is going to be in a better place, and Chicago is going to be in a better place, I think everybody wins,” according to News Nation.
St. Louis Does Not Want A Homeless Situation
Despite this partnership, both St. Louis and Chicago are strategically working together. This is so that Chicago does not send a huge influx of migrants to St. Louis. “Ramirez said his group and Chicago officials are “being cautious and strategically intentional. I want to be careful not to all of a sudden get an onslaught of homeless [migrants] from Chicago and then create a homeless situation in St. Louis,” according to WBEZ News.

This clearly shows that St. Louis is trying to house and help as many migrants as they can. However, this can eventually turn out to be disastrous if Chicago sends a huge amount of them. Therefore, despite this taking some time, it will eventually turn out to be a good decision.
The Future of the Migrant Crisis
Despite the amount of migrants that are coming in, the U.S. continues to find any way they can help them. These migrants come from terrible environments, and seek opportunity and a better life for them and their family. However, it is extremely hard for them to receive that. Especially if the U.S struggles themselves to find appropriate shelter and jobs for them. Additionally, it becomes more difficult if only certain places are receiving all the migrants as well.
However, due to this partnership between Chicago and St. Louis, can certainly open up the doors for other states and cities to get involved as well. The more helping hands, the better the situation is going to be. Not only for Chicago and other major cities, but for the migrants as well. Only the future will tell how the migrant crisis continues. Many hope that it is a positive one.
