Trump and His Indictment

All citizens of the U.S. understand that Trump and the indictment incurred was something totally unexpected. No one expected a president to be indicted in this day and age. However, there is countless evidence that there was fraud going on in the 2020 election. There are also several people that have worked alongside Trump since 2020. Therefore, there are many other officials that also have been indicted, alongside Donald Trump. Additionally, there really has not been any say when it comes to his indictment, as it is still fairly new. However, Sidney Powell has turned this entire investigation in a 360.

Sidney Powell Pleading Guilty

Despite all of the other officials that have worked with Trump, including Trump himself, have pleaded not guilty, Sidney Powell turned things around. She has pleaded guilty to the charges that have been laid against her. This is completely blow to Donald Trump, and can completely turn the investigation around. Additionally, this can be used as evidence to move further with the indictment of Donald Trump.

What Are Powell’s Charges?

Sidney Powell has six different charges that she has been given to her. All of these charges were made while trying to keep Donald Trump in power after the 2020 election. “Powell was initially charged with racketeering and six other counts as part of a wide-ranging scheme to keep the Republican president in power after he lost the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden. Prosecutors say she also participated in an unauthorized breach of elections equipment in a rural Georgia county elections office,” according to AP News. Therefore, she took part in several crimes that would help Donald Trump conserve his power, despite losing the 2020 election.

What Is She Sentenced To?

Despite all of these charges, she apparently is not going to be sentenced to any time in prison. However, she will be charged financially, as well as be on probation for a certain period of time. “Appearing Thursday in a downtown Atlanta courtroom, she was sentenced to six years of probation for six counts of conspiracy to commit intentional interference with performance of election duties,” according to The New York Times. Furthermore, this is much less severe, as she was originally going to be charged with seven other felonies, in which she ultimately was not.

Additionally, no matter what, this is something that represented the U.S. in a negative light. The fact that elected officials, whom American people are supposed to trust, are doing this behind the shadows, is extremely saddening. Additionally, this is being done for their own political gain, and nobody else’s best interest.

However, there is a hope that if other officials have committed crimes, that they come out and plead guilty. This way, they are at least admitting to the things that they have done, and not hiding anything. However, only time will tell how this plays out in the end.

The Future of This Indictment

It is still going to take time for Trump to either be charged or found not guilty of the crimes mentioned in his name. However, there are many other officials that are still being accounted for, as they are apart of Donald Trump’s team.

Therefore, only time will tell if there are other people that have yet to be accounted for in terms of being charged. The hope remains for Americans, that there are less things going on behind their backs, and that elected officials can be honest about the things that they are doing.
