Hi, my name is Melvin Powers. I’m from Chicago, born and raised. Currently, I’m 19 years old. Some of my favorite things to do are play video games, watch movies, playing basketball and enjoying music.
I currently attend Malcom X College. Some things I want to achieve are:
- Being a popular music artist,
- Hopefully, also helping in my community.
- And bringing the right image to my people pushing them to become better.
Also, I want become what we want to be; that has been many reason I’m doing this program to help others expand on what they know. And to push positive narratives; I’ve always were interested in journalism. I love reading and writing, a lot. That’s all music is to me; a way to express myself.
This could help me with that as a artist; expanding my knowledge on information. And allowing me to grow gain opportunity’s expressing myself is a big part of me and what I love to do. I just want to show people that it’s possible.
I’ve been always a fan of writing. I like to think of it as a poetry. In which I do enjoy poetry reading. As well as a kid, I loved comic books of my favorite superheroes. It always stuck out to me people created these for kids to enjoy and have something to look up to. That is something I want to do; give the world a better me and show what peace really is.
