Country singer Dolly Parton recently hinted that there maybe a reboot to the late 1990s show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Unbeknownst to many people, Parton, and her company Sandollar Productions, produced the TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Furthermore, her production company also co-produced the 1992 movie, which starred Kristy Swanson as Buffy.

Sandollar Productions

In 1986, Parton and her former manager Sandy Gallin, founded the production company. In addition to producing “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” the company was also behind the hit movie “Father of the Bride.” Which starred Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

PartonFurthermore, Sandollar Productions also produced the 1992 film “Straight Talk” and the spin-off series of “Buffy the Vampire,” “Angel.” More recently, the company, along with a few others, produced “Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” series on Netflix.

About ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

The TV series was created by writer and director Joss Whedon, who also wrote the movie. The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” series premiered on The WB on March 10, 1997. Furthermore, the series ended on May 20, 2003, on the UPN channel.

The show followed Michelle Gellar’s character, Buffy Summers, as she attempted to live a normal life as a modern day teenager, with a chosen fate. At first, Buffy struggled to accept her role as a “Chosen One,” whose duty was to protect the world from supernatural dark forces.

Eventually, Buffy is able to embrace her dual life and find a somewhat happy medium. One, where she battled vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness, with the help of her friends.

Rebooting the Show

Since the show ended, fans have been eager to have it brought back. Many feel it ended way before it was supposed to; which seems to happen to a lot of hit series. During an interview with Business Insider, Parton stated “they” were working on a reboot of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Additionally, this is not the first time there has been talks of rebooting the hit series. The pitch was made in 2009 and 2018. However, those attempts did not take.

Moreover, there is an Audible drama series called, “Slayers: A Buffyverse Story,” where the world of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” has lived on. The Audible series, they tell the tale of what happened to the TV shows beloved characters, 10 years after the TV version was canceled. Furthermore, it has a few of the original actors reprising their roles:

  • James Marsters.
  • Anthony Head.
  • Charisma Carpenter.
  • Juliet Landau.
  • Emma Caulfield.
  • Amber Benson.
  • James Charles Leary.
  • And Danny Strong.

Soon, fans of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” may be able to watch their favorite characters in action, according to Parton.
