The 9/11 Attacks
It is safe to say that the 9/11 attacks were the most devastating attack in US history. This attack killed more than 2,500 Americans, and left several families absolutely devastated. These attacks should never have happened, and there may not have been a way to prevent this. It was incredibly impromptu, and all of these lives will forever be remembered.
aThere were also several first responders that passed away because of falling debris, and some were killed because of people jumping off the building. All in all, this was a terrifying, brutal event. There was one particular firefighter, Bob Beckwith, who took a picture next to former president George W. Bush, which represented a form of unity in this devastating time.
Bob Beckwith
Bob Beckwith was a former hero, who assisted in the 9/11 attacks, and surely witnessed very terrifying, traumatic things. At the time of the 9/11 attacks, he was already retired, and 69 years of age. Despite that, he still rushed in and helped the rescue efforts, doing all he could to ensure he could save as many lives as he could.

Former President Bush made sure to thank this hero and show his resilience and efforts to attend to those that needed help. Despite his family members trying to stop him from going because of the fear, he still went. The US is truly honored to have had this man serving as a firefighter.
Bob Beckwith, the Legendary Hero, Sadly Passes Away
Bob Beckwith has unfortunately passed away due to complications with cancer. He has been battling this for the past couple of years, and unfortunately has succumbed to it. He had a very bad form of skin cancer, and he was also suffering with several other health conditions, at which point it was too much for his body to handle.
The man behind the iconic photo that he took with Former President Bush, and the man that dove into the danger zone, is resting in peace. His wife, Barbara Beckwith, certainly agreed with him being a hero, and helping others even if it meant his own life being in danger.
