ComEd Brings Changes to Their Billing System
The largest electric utility in Illinois and the primary electric provider for Chicago and much of Northern Illinois is known to be ComEd. Well, this electricity company has announced that it is now renovating and upgrading its billing system. As well as the customer information system starting as early as Thursday, February 15, this year. These new updates are intended to create a more “sophisticated” system to improve the experience quality of customers.
Also, something very important that customers are to keep in mind is that as the system updates, many ComEd’s self-services tools will be limited or offline for at least the next six days. They stated, “Our ability to process your requests are currently limited to reporting outages and other emergencies.”
New Account Numbers are Launching
Some of the changes that this system update is going to bring is that they will assign all business and residential customers new account numbers, this is one of the main changes. However, with this new update, this will mean that some customers, specifically those who pay their bills through banks or other financial institutions may need to also update their method of payment on how they usually pay their light bills.

In regards to the upcoming new account numbers, they will start to appear on customer’s bills starting Feb. 20 and they will also be on the customer’s online dashboard. It is very important to emphasize that customers also have to update their way of payment on Feb. 20 or after in order to ensure that their payments are applied to their account.
Now, for those customers that are wondering where can they locate their new account number in their bill, either being from the physical paper bill, My Dashboard on the computer or the Mobile App, they will be applied in the following locations:
- ComEd Bill: In the upper right corner of the ComEd bill.
- My Account: Online at ComEd.com/MyAccount in the upper left corner of My Dashboard.
- Mobile App: In the ComEd mobile app at the top left of the home screen.
New Look
Moreover, appearance-wise, the residential bill will also look differently, the colors and logo will change, they will be revised to align with the most recent brand updates. As for business customers, their bills are also going to be redesigned and have a new look, they will now look more like the new residential customer’s energy bill.
This change will be to enhance the experience for businesses light bills. It will make it easier for these particular customers to read and understand their supply, delivery, and taxes & fees charges. Furthermore, in addition to all of these new changes, They have also stated that now they will review the monthly billing quantities every three months. As opposed to every six months like they used to. According to ComEd officials, they stated, “If your average bill amount over the last 12 months changes by more than 20% compared to your prior budget bill amount, budget bill amount will be adjusted accordingly.” Lastly, customers will use these new account numbers moving forward no matter if they move locations, close an account or create a new one later on.
