Facebook wants to start making conversations on its site more meaningful.
Comments written on public posts will start to be ranked, and comments that are considered the most relevant will be promoted.
The social media site will prioritize those responses that not only have interactions from the person who wrote the actual post but also from those who have commented on the post.
The change in Facebook will apply only to those comments that have been written public posts on Pages and those who have many followers.
However, any individual on the site can choose to have a comment ranking system on their page by opting in through their setting section.
Facebook will base the new ranking system on how many users interact with their own comments, whether they like a comment, react to it, or write a reply.
Users will still have the option to moderate a comment on their post by deleting, hiding, or responding to it somehow.
Facebook will also begin looking for integrity signals if a response posted violates their community standards, and as in the past, those comments will be removed.
In May 2019, the social media site introduced a new system that would rank videos and prioritize those having original content.
