Initial Situation
Christina Applegate spoke up about living with multiple sclerosis and her unusual attendance at the Emmy’s this year in a teaser clip for a future interview on “America, good morning. The actress stated, “I feel like I’m in hell sometimes.” She further stated, “This is a little tough for my system because I’m not out much,”. 52-year-old Applegate said to 63-year-old “GMA” host Robin Roberts in reference to her ongoing struggle. She also said that “ Of course, though, the support is fantastic, and I truly appreciate it.”
The “Married… With Children” actress, who Jamie-Lynn Sigler joined her in the interview, also made fun of her presence on the awards show in January. “Could you have heard the standing ovation?” Roberts asked.” I kind of blacked out, to be honest.” Applegate said. “People were saying, “Oh, you were so funny,” and I was thinking, “I don’t even know what I said.” I have no idea what I was doing. She went on, ” I lost all comprehension of what was happening because I was so anxious.” “And it was a beautiful thing I felt really loved.”
Diagnosis
On March 19, Sigler, 42, who was given an MS diagnosis when she was 20 years old, and Applegate will debut a brand-new podcast, “MeSsy,” in which they will discuss their personal experiences with the autoimmune condition. Applegate, meanwhile, revealed her MS diagnosis in 2021. This is why during her Emmy Awards 2024 performance; Christina Applegate went all black. She appeared overwhelmed when she presented the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series to Ayo Edebiri for “The Bear” at the time.
Using social media, Applegate has invited followers to follow her on her health journey. The “Dead to Me” actress frequently posts pictures of her cane choices for various occasions. The actress went to her first “fancy ceremony” following her diagnosis in October 2022.
Applegate said at the time,” This will be my first time going outside since my MS diagnosis,” she wrote, along with a photo of four potential cane configurations. Walking sticks are my new normal, and I’ve accepted that. Thanks, @neowalksticks, for these beautiful sticks. New Friendship
Applegate additionally talked about how Jamie-Lynn Sigler, a new acquaintance, had been brought to her by MS. The two paired up to create a podcast, assisting one another in overcoming multiple sclerosis.
“To have each other has been an incredible help,” Applegate said to People magazine. We would laugh and cry over the course of two hours of phone conversations. We would both agree that this was beneficial. Let us document this. “Let’s get started,” she said.
Christina said that Jamie-Lynn had given her advice on establishing boundaries, saying, “You need to tell them what you need now that you’ve let it out of the bag.” While filming the TV sitcom “Samantha Who?” in 2008, Christina became ill with breast cancer. She emphasized her wish that she had been given the same counsel at that time.
Back In the Day
“I didn’t defend my boundaries back then.” ” But I should have asked for more time after one of my operations. I went back to work after recovering for two weeks. And it was really difficult for me to do that.” she said. Christina had a double mastectomy in July 2008. While the cancer had only been found in one breast, she pronounced herself cancer-free, which was wrong, so Christina Applegate blacked out at her Emmy Awards 2024 performance.
She disclosed that she has a BRCA1 mutation, an inherited genetic condition that can cause ovarian and breast cancer. Multiple sclerosis (known as MS) is a condition in which the immune system attacks the body and causes nerve damage to the brain and spinal cord.
It is an incurable, lifelong condition. Symptoms can be mild in some, and in others more extreme causing severe disability. MS affects 2.3 million people worldwide – including around one million in the US, and 100,000 in the UK.
It is more than twice as common in women as it is in men. A person is usually diagnosed in their 20s and 30s.
