U.S. man receives life sentence for murdering and rape of 2 women

On Monday, an American man was found guilty and received a life sentence of sexual violence of two American ladies. Outside of Germany’s iconic Neuschwanstein Castle last summer, he forced them into a ravine, hurting one fatally. He was condemned to life in prison.

The Kempten state court also found the 31-year-old man guilty of attempted murder and rape with fatal consequences. Moreover, presiding judge Christoph Schwiebacher ruled that the defendant has very serious guilt then sentenced. He will most likely not be eligible for release after 15 years, as is customary in Germany.

Prosecutors in the German court system do not officially enter pleas to accusations. The suspect admitted to them when his trial began on February 19.

In conformity with German privacy rules, local police did not identify those responsible or victims. However, family and friends at the time reported that the victims were 21-year-old Eva Liu, who died, and Kelsey Chang, 22, who survived. Both were recent grads from the University of Illinois.

The attack began on June 14 at the Marienbruecke. Which is a bridge over a ravine that provides a view of the castle, one of Germany’s most well-known tourist destinations. Furthermore, prosecutors claim the suspect encountered the two women by coincidence on a hiking trail and lured them off it. They stated he first forced the younger woman to the ground and attempted to strip her.

When the older woman sought to assist her, a fight erupted. The suspect allegedly shoved her down a steep slope. She fell approximately 50 meters (165 feet) and suffered a head injury, bruises, and grazes, but lived.

New York Man Receive Life Sentence for Murdering a Woman

Kevin Monahan received a life sentence in prison shortly after fatally shooting a 20-year-old woman. In an SUV that was mistakenly drove up his remote driveway in upstate New York. Kevin Monahan was found guilty of murder in the second degree for the killing of Kaylin Gillis. She had been riding in a caravan of two cars and a motorcycle that stopped into Monahan’s driveway.

On the night of Gillis’ death, a group of friends were on heading to a party when they mistakenly drove down Monahan’s driveway. Monahan came out from his home and fired two shots. Both shots from his deck, with the second shot wounding Gillis in the neck while she sat in the front passenger seat of her boyfriend’s SUV.

Monahan claimed the fatal shot was an accident caused by a malfunctioning rifle. Furthermore, Monahan claimed he came out with a shotgun to scare the bunch away, while his wife sheltered inside. Alexandra, Gillis’ friend, testified in January that the gun was aimed at them at the event.

Prosecutors subsequently claimed that Monahan was motivated by uncontrollable hatred toward intruders. Adam Matthews, one of Monahan’s neighbors, said he grew increasingly frustrated in recent years. It was proved at trial that the majority of the friends did not notice the private property sign.

The jury found Monahan guilty of murder, reckless endangerment, and tampering with physical evidence. Being found guilty, the man carried a maximum life sentence. Which prosecutors had previously said they would want, plus additional time for tampering with the murder weapon. The defense pleaded for leniency. Monahan denied the opportunity to speak.
