Kendrick Lamar Criticizes Drake & J Cole in a New Song

We Don’t Trust You, Future and Metro Boomin’s new album, is finally here. The reason “Like That” became viral is because Kendrick Lamar seems to be criticizing Drake and J. Cole in the song.

Kendrick Lamar Sends A Shot

Friday (March 22) saw the release of Future and Metro’s new album, which has several uncredited features, including Kendrick Lamar. In “Like That,” he appears to have targeted bars for Cole and Drizzy. Kendrick Lamar criticized at the trio of rappers that fans have come to refer to as the “big three”. Which are Drake, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar.

We haven’t had a good ol’ rap feud for a while. Kendrick Lamar just thoroughly and effectively ended his Cold War with Drake with a series of straight bars. Instead of a hot Instagram Live or tweets. “The summer’s bout to get hot,” as Jay-Z once said during the prime Jigga era. Kendrick establishes the tone right away. He said that an opponent must “prove that he’s a problem” and that he is “choosing violence.”

We also need to think of this as more than just a subliminal. Since Drake’s song “First Person Shooter” and the album it features on, For All the Dog are said, even if no names are referred to explicitly. Drake boasts on “FPS” that he has more Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits than Michael Jackson, even going so far as to perform the “Beat It” steps in the music video while wearing a sparkly glove. Here, Kendrick officially positions himself as the direct opponent of MJ, concluding his line with a jab at his own long-standing Cold War foe, Prince: “Prince outlived Mike Jack.” Haha.

Complicated History

Kendrick and Drake have a complicated past spanning more than a decade. For this reason Kendrick Lamar Criticizes Drake & J Cole in their New Song. Drake embraced Kendrick Lamar as soon as he got popularity. He gave him a special segment on his 2011 album Take Care. Also invited him to join the Club Paradise tour, which includes J. Cole, A$AP Rocky, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka Flame, and other celebrities.

However, friction was evident even on the song “Buried Alive,” where Kendrick spoke about his feelings while receiving game during a meeting with Drake, who was at the time more well-known in the industry, and acknowledged that he was annoyed by Drake’s success. Even so, they collaborated on the wonderful song “Poetic Justice” from Kendrick’s groundbreaking good kid, M.a.a.d. City album.

However, the good vibes ended a year later when Kendrick mentioned Drake among his numerous friends in his timeline-stopping, call-to-arms verse on Big Sean’s “Control.” A month or two later, Drake released Nothing Was the Same, and in an interview with Elliott Wilson, he deftly acknowledged Kendrick while also disparaging the verse. A month later, Kendrick Lamar did a cypher at the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards, stating, “Since they dropped ‘Control,’ nothing’s been the same/and tucked the sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes.” After two months, Drake records a remix of Future’s legendary song “Sh!t” and ends his verse with “Fuckn-ggas, gon be fuckn-ggas/that’s why we never gave a fuck/when a fuckn-gga switched up.”

Other Relationships

But while the US and the USSR were playing, both rappers J Cole. For example kept a tight relationship with Germany. Although their long-awaited collaboration album which we will always have hasn’t materialized, Kendrick and Cole are continuing to communicate via wax. For example, Kendrick gave the hook for Cole’s song “Under the Sun,” and on Black Friday, they swapped beats and freestyled over each other’s songs. While Cole and Drake have always been honest about their genuine friendship outside of rap, they really put that into practice this year when they was working on two songs their first in ten years and Cole became part of Drake’s nationwide tour for several dates.  Overall this shows how Kendrick Lamar Criticizes Drake & J Cole in a New Song
