What Is ‘The View’?
“The View” is a popular daytime American television talk show, that has been airing weekdays on ABC since 1997. The talk show is best known for its various panel of co-hosts, like Whoopi Goldberg, who talk about a wide rang of topics. These topics include politics, lifestyle, current events, and entertainment. Since its premiere, the show has given a platform for interviews with high-profile guests, active debates, and insightful discussions.
Which makes this show fundamental to the culture of American television. With its blend of diverse viewpoints, humor, and intellect, “The View” goes on to charm audiences and impact public discussion. In a recently aired episode of the talk show one of the co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg had to halt the show, to reprimand an audience member.
What Made Whoopi Reprimanded The Audience Member?

On Tuesday March 26, the hosts of “The View” were discussing the continuing legal battles of former President Donald Trump. During the conversation, one audience member in particular caught the attention of moderator and co-host Whoopi Goldberg.
The said audience member supposedly pulled out his phone and began to record, rather than watch the show with his own eyes. As her associate hosts continued the discussion, Whoopi suddenly said, “Hold on a second,” and went to the wing of the stage. She then began to reprimand the audience member for recording the show.
“Sir, I have to stop you with the camera because I can see you,” Goldberg stated. “Do me a favor: Don’t pull it out again. I’d appreciate that. Thank you.” After addressing the scenario, Goldberg was met with with an applause from the audience.
The man who could not be seen, could be heard responding to Goldberg. However, he couldn’t be heard by viewers tuning in at home. Her fellow co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, Joy Behar, and Sarah Haines, had turned their heads to observe the interaction. They were unaware of the unfolding situation as Goldburg was solely facing him. As she made her way back to rejoin the conversation Behar who still hadn’t grasped the situation asked “What was he doing?” Haines answered his question as she responded “recording.”
Despite audience members being told before the show began, taking pictures or recording isn’t permitted that didn’t stop the rule breaker. Even with having to be corrected, the audience member still continued to stay and enjoy the remainder of the show.
Yet She’s Interrupted Again
Later on, during the Hot Topics segment, Whoopi’s conversation was interfered with, yet again. This time by a producer, who apparently insisted on her cutting the discussion short and allow Hostin to speak. Moreover, the producer wanted Whoopi to allow Hostin to read aloud a legal note stating that Trump has opposed to any wrongdoing.
Evidently Whoopi was clearly not happy as she responded, “My God guys, I’m going to get to her. May I finish my point or you want me to just jump now.” Whereas a giggling Behar tried to add a bit of cheerfulness by saying, “Whoopi is not in the mood today for your shenanigans!”
Whoopi agreed with Behar’s observation, responding, “I’m not, I’m not. I’m trying to do everything everybody wants, but you know, never mind. Go ahead, Sunny.” Afterwards Hostin took control over the conversation and enlightened the viewers that she had a “legal notice.” Goldberg then made a sardonic response saying “no kidding.” Her remark sent the audience into a light laughter.
Reflecting On Goldberg’s Decisions
Her decision to halt the talk show has marked a significant moment in the history of the show. By choosing to halt the show to correct rule breaking behavior, this demonstrates her commitment to addressing issues big or small. This decision reflects that she ensures the well-being of both the show’s contributors and the viewers.
Although Whoopi’s reaction to being signaled to end her dialogue has been referred to as “exasperated,” in reality it shows that she thinks what she saying is important to her and the viewers. A few bumps in the word won’t stop fans from tuning in as they eagerly await the show’s return.
