Increasing Number of Gun Violence Cases
Gun violence continues to skyrocket as the days continue, and it seems every day there is a new case that erupts. In this case, a Charlotte neighborhood in North Carolina has had to suffer once again with a case of gun violence. There also seems to be a much lower respect for authorities. Instead of complying with officers, there are individuals that try to hurt them.
Therefore, there needs to be a higher amount of respect that is shown towards officers. As a result, showing them respect can save lives in the process. The last thing an officer wants to do is use lethal force. However, they are allowed to do so if they suspect their lives are in danger.
What Occurred in Charlotte?
There seems to be an individual that has wielded a firearm and is constantly firing at the police. He has already harmed several police officers, and law enforcement has urged that resident’s shelter in place. This exchange of gunfire is still ongoing, and it does not seem like it is going to stop anytime soon. This was originally reported at 1:50 PM on Monday, August 29th.
“CMPD’s SWAT team handled the incident They advised that the threat was isolated to the area of 5000 Galway Drive but still asked residents to shelter in place,” according to WBTV 3 News. Therefore, as scary as this is, this will hopefully be over within the coming hours. Additionally, there is a hope that there are no more casualties to be reported.

The Future of This Incident
There truly is the hope that this exchange of gunfire can be stopped as soon as possible, without anyone else getting hurt. There is also a hope that the officers that were shot, can make a speedy recovery.
As of yet, it does not seem that the officers have sustained critical injuries. However, it may take a long time to recover from such event, both mentally and physically. There also needs to be more attention paid to the fact that gun violence is increasingly prevalent across the U.S, and there needs to be something done to ensure that this issue is resolved within the near future.
