A security officer was critically hurt in a shooting outside Drake’s Toronto mansion on Tuesday, May 7, at around 2 A.M. The man who had been shot was discovered by responding police and transported to a hospital. After being observed, police believe a possible shooter drove off in a car according to Inspector Paul Krawczyk. There wasn’t much information available. Inspector Paul stated, the motivation for the shooting had not yet been determined by the police, and neither the shooter’s nor the vehicle’s specifics were known.
In addition to interviewing witnesses, police have been searching the area for more footage. The police department is asking anyone with knowledge on the shooting that leaves the security guard injured to get in touch with them. Krawczyk stated that the artist’s team is in contact with the authorities, and they are cooperating, but he declined to answer if the music artist was inside the house when the incident occurred.
Press Conference
Journalists questioned Krawczyk, asking if the gunshot was connected to the recent dispute between the victim and fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, but he said it was too soon to tell. Current news, due to a rap feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, has had both of them in the spotlight. Lamar, who has many awards including 17 Grammys to his name, upped the ante in his musical spat with Drake.
In these few weeks, Lamar dropped three “diss” recordings in 36 hours. Drake’s Toronto mansion was shown aerially in the music video for “Not Like Us,” the last of the three songs. Drake’s Toronto mansion is on the lavish Bridle Path neighborhood, often dubbed “Millionaires Row,” according to Paul. This may be how the shooter was able to find him.
How Things Became Very Personal
Furthermore, the 37-year-old Canadian rapper and Kendrick have been engaging in increasingly violent diss records. They have constantly insulted and made accusations about each other’s families and personal lives. Drake responded in a song, saying he’s “disgusted” by Lamar’s claims about him, including that he has a secret child and has sex with young females, which he denies.
The feud has resulted in numerous unconfirmed charges from both rappers. In “The Heart Part 6,” which is titled after Kendrick Lamar’s song series of the same name, Drake stated that if the claims regarding his inappropriate interactions with underage girls were true, he would have “been arrested.”

Drake, who is a parent to a 6-year-old son, also hinted in his song that he gave Lamar fake information about having a daughter. The line he used to reveal this was “We plotted for a week and then we fed you the information… A daughter that’s eleven years old, I bet he takes it.”
These tracks have also drawn comparisons to other legendary hip-hop artists, such as DJ Mustard and Metro Booming.
Accusing these artists of being guilty by comparison. J. Cole may have unintentionally rekindled their feud on “First Person Shooter” in the first place in October 2023. “Love when they argue the hardest MC,” he rapped. “Is it K-Dot? Is that Aubrey? Or myself?,” referring to Aubrey Graham, Lamar, and Drake’s birth name.
I feel like Muhammad Ali right now, but we the big three like we started a league.
The History Behind Drake and Lamar’s Beef
But things weren’t always like this. The two worked together on a couple of songs more than ten years ago: “Buried Alive Interlude” by Drake, “Poetic Justice” by Kendrick Lamar, and “(Expletive)’Problems” by A$AP Rocky in 2011. However, Pulitzer Prize winner Kendrick Lamar was mentioned in Big Sean’s 2013 song “Control,” where he attacked several modern rappers, including Big Sean, J. Cole, Meek Mill, Drake, A$AP Rocky, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, and Pusha T.
In response, Aubrey retorted in a Billboard cover story. She told the reports “I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform.” Soon after, Lamar made another joke about Drake at the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards. The rappers exchanged fewer insults with one another during the ensuing years. Aubrey has previous feuds with other musicians, such as with Meek Mill in 2015 and, most notoriously, with Pusha T in 2018, after the latter rapper released “The Story of Adidon,” which disclosed Drake’s paternity.
More to the Point
After all this, the point further stands. Provided is a timeline of the events over the last few weeks. It should be emphasized that rappers frequently use unfounded rumors and exaggerated facts in their diss tracks for dramatic effect; also, authorities have not stated that the conflict between the two parties was the reason for Tuesday’s shooting that leaves a security guard injured outside of Drake’s Toronto mansion.
