Antwain Gementyl’s Death
The “Pain” rapper, real name Charles Jones, was celebrating his 26th birthday on Saturday night (June 22). Then the celebration was moved to a Holiday Inn, where he was ambushed by assailants, according to his lawyer Lewis Fusco.
According to the Tampa Police Department, law officers responded to a 911 call around 4:40 a.m. ET. They discovered a pair of automobiles blasted with gunfire in the parking area. Jones was pronounced deceased, while three others were sent to a local hospital and are in stable condition.
Before arriving at the hotel, the rapper and his crew were celebrating his birthday at a neighboring Airbnb, but he said authorities “shut us down and kicked us out,” according to NBC News, which cited his Instagram Story.
Police are attempting to identify the people involved and determine a motive. The Tampa Police Department asks that anybody who has information regarding the incident call 813-231-6130.
