Welcome to the Phalanx Family Services Pullout Section of the Chicago Leader!
Last month, I was honored to be the recipient of a “Gentle Warrior” award from the National A. Phillip Randolph Pullman Porter Museum. I, along with several honorees, was fêted at a black-tie gala event held at the Local IBEW 134 Headquarters. It was a humbling honor to be recognized for the work we have done for the community and to have so many of the Phalanx Family in attendance to bask in the praise and experience the event.
April Is “Second Chance Month!”
In 2022, President Biden officially recognized Second Chance Month. It is a nationwide effort to raise awareness of the collateral consequences of a criminal conviction. Additionally, it unlocks second-chance opportunities for people who have completed their sentences to become contributing citizens. Phalanx Family Services will be supporting the theme by hosting a resource fair, panel discussions, podcast segments, social media posts, and a documentary screening to help advance reentry rights and second chance opportunities.
Incentives
If you haven’t already, please get vaccinated and/or boosted for COVID-19. Our communities have the highest health vulnerabilities and suffer the worst economic impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still very much a reality. At Phalanx Family Services, we are offering $50 gift card incentives for first shots and boosters as well as $10 weekly incentives for COVID testing.
