Black Bourbon Society honors a group of talented entrepreneurs for the Salon 7 Legacy award ceremony. With the help of Jack Daniel’s as a sponsor, over 100 attended the event hosted at Chicago’s NYCH gallery.
What Is the Black Bourbon Society?
Samara B. Davis, the founder of the Black Bourbon Society, is inspired by the days of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 30s salon gatherings. Salon 7 is the modern-day version of the event and features signature cocktails, tasting whiskey, and panel discussions.
With the help of Jack Daniels and United Distributors, a donation of $7,440 was given to Sarmara. The donation went towards her other non-profit called Diversity Distilled. Like Salon 7, it also calls to create more diversity within the spirits industry.

Black Bourbon Society is an organization that combines African American enthusiasm with the spirits industry, shown through social media and brand-partnered events.
It challenges the traditional standards of consumer marketing by engaging with its unique demographic as they give experiences to its peers. This encourages the act of inclusion through group conversations about and beyond the spirits industry.
Salon 7 Honorees
At the center of it all, the mission is to appreciate Black entrepreneurs and leaders.
By breaking boundaries and establishing a legacy for themselves and for aspiring Black businesspeople, they are creating a path for future success.
These honorees include:
- Phillip Scott Sinclair from NYCH Gallery.
- Perteet and Fred Spencer from Ayo Foods.
- Jonathan Swain from Kimbark Beverage Shoppe.
- Josh Davis from Brown & Balanced.
- Danielle Mullen from Semicolon Bookstore.
- Yasmin Curtis from Two Fish Crab Shack.
- Lensie S. Lee from Collective Initiatives, Inc.
During the ceremony, the winners discussed their work with one another and the impacts as legacy makers while talking to each other and having good food.
Samara remarks on Jack Daniel’s donation and their involvement with the award ceremony.
We are thrilled to be partnering with Jack Daniel’s on this initiative celebrating our local legacy makers in Atlanta, New York City, and Chicago.
“These trailblazers create Black History every day through their courageous determination and dedication to building their businesses and creating impact in their communities and our society as a whole,” she added.
