High temperatures have been wreaking havoc across the nation for a few weeks. And it doesn’t appear to be slowing down. As the week progresses, Chicago’s forecasted warm summer temps are going to continue to rise with them, possibly reaching 100º Wednesday and Thursday. That’s right everybody, melting temperatures are on their way.
Currently, there is a Northwestern upper airflow in place and it is expected to last through the coming weekend. Come this weekend, the hot temps should hit a slight breaking point, which could bring chances of isolated showers and a possibility of a thunderstorm on Friday.
Monday’s Forecast
However, Chicago’s temps will begin to rise once again as a dome of heat encases the city. Monday is expected to be between 84 to 90 degrees, with a few clouds passing by. Residents need to make sure they take heed of their skin, as the UV Index level will reach 9 of 11.
During the day, the humidity in Chicago will be around 64%, however, as the sun goes down this humidity will rise up to 74%. The upside though will be the temperature will drop to 69º. There is a 34% chance of scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two rolling through during the nighttime.
Rising Temps
Tuesday will be a bit hotter with temperatures reaching 87 to 93 degrees across the city. The wind will be coming from the south-southwest at 9 mph and intervals of cloud coverage. Like Monday, Chicagoans will see a humidity level of 64%.
That evening the skies will drop to around 70º with a humidity index of 77%. The winds will switch it up slightly and come out of the south at five to 10 mph.
Melting Away
Come Wednesday Chicago’s forecast will have people feeling like they’re melting away. The city is expected to reach temperatures in the high 90s if not low 100s. The radar does show scattered thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. That night the temp will dip down to around 74º.
The forecast for Thursday looks to be the same as Wednesday. So people will want to make sure to stay cool in any way they can. Don’t forget to drink plenty of fluids and check on your elderly and disabled neighbors. Thursday evening people may see an isolated thunderstorm in the late evening to early morning hours. The temp will drop down to around 75º.
Chicago Forecast for Next Weekend
After the blistering heat of the week, there appears to be a break in the melting temps heading to Chicago for next weekend. Temperatures on Friday will reach a high of 89º during the day with scattered thunderstorms and 69º at night. Saturday and Sunday the temperatures stick around 78º with lows around 66º. There is a chance of some rain hitting the city on Saturday and a smaller chance for Sunday seeing showers.
Tentatively, Chicago’s forecast for the following week will stick around the high 70s with lows in the mid-60s, according to The Weather Channel.
