What Is College Board?
College Board is a non-profit organization that tries to help students’ pathways to college be easy. Thus, it was founded in 1900 to expand access to education for students. Each year, the organization helps more than seven million students with their requirements for college. As well as the advanced classes that help them get ahead in their education. College Board offers the SAT, Advanced Placement Program, and Big Future.
Working on students’ College Board profiles and information is something everyone should do. Since, in the U.S., most applications and tasks, and tests happen through College Board, it is important students keep up with it. Furthermore, College Board is a great opportunity for students to stay on a linear path to college. Aside from being a portal for students, teachers, and parents have access to it as well.
SAT Test Matters
First, SAT Testing (which stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a test for testing students’ knowledge. From their freshman year- up to their Junior of high school. Most United State Colleges and Universities ask for students’ SAT scores. Which can also be submitted to schools outside the country for a boost in academic admissions. Most Ivy League Schools require a high SAT score, so it’s important to be taken seriously. Now, for all CPS Juniors, the SAT test happened on April 12, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This year’s test included five sections:
- Reading Section (65 Minutes)
- Grammar Section (35 Minutes)
- Math No-Calculator (25 Minutes)
- Math With Calculator (55 Minutes)
- Essay (55 Minutes)
Moreover, if students were not happy with their SAT Scores, there are multiple chances to retake them. These are the following optional testing dates for the rest of the 2023 year:

- March 11, 2023 — which has already passed.
- May 6, 2023.
- June 3, 2023.
- August 26, 223.
- October 7, 2023.
- November 4, 2023.
- December 2, 2023.
There are additional dates for the 2024 year as well. For more information visit College Board’s website (every student in the United States Should have an account).
AP Test Matters
Many high school students are enrolled in AP Classes (which are college-level courses but in high school). These AP Classes are perfect for those who want to show Colleges that students are able to take challenging classes at a young age.
For example, if a student took AP Literature and Composition in high school and got a 3 on the AP Test, they can submit the scores to colleges. To add on, if the college accepts the score, rather than that student going into English 101 and 102 (which are equivalent to AP Land and Comp), they get to take English 103 and 104 their freshman year. Furthermore, AP Classes allow students to enter higher-level college classes during their freshman year of college, allowing them to finish their pre-requisite classes sooner.
With that being said, AP Classes are a great advantage and should be taken seriously. In addition, the 2023 school year is coming to end, meaning that AP Test will be occurring over the course of two weeks. The first week is May 1-5, and the second week is May 8-12.
If Students or parents want to know when AP tests are occurring, visit the 2023 AP Exam Dates on College Board. There, people will be able to find every AP Class that was offered this year and its test date.
Big Future
Also, part of College Board, Big Future is meant to help high school students with their future schools and careers. Big Future has multiple features (which are different students) that include the following:
- Exploring Careers.
- Career/interest Quiz.
- Career List.
- College List.
- Scholarship List.
- SAT Prep.
- FAFSA Application.
- Financial Aid Applications.
- Personal Statement Essay.
The school year for many is coming to end, it is important that every student has a foundation laid for the future school years. Indeed, the SAT, AP Classes, and Personal Statements, are what are going to help students get into college, so it’s important that everyone takes those things seriously.
