Martin Luther King Jr’s Legacy
Martin Luther King Jr. left a long-lasting impact on the entire country of the United States. Not only with his “I have a dream” speech, but the activism that he engaged in to help the world become a better place. Despite all of the harsh circumstances that he faced, he never backed down. Dexter Scott King, Martin Luther King Jr’s son, was a key part in this legacy.
The police riots, the segregation, he, as well as those that followed him, endured all of it, to make sure that equality was a secured end goal. However, this sadly ended abruptly and way too soon, as he was assassinated during one of his speeches. However, he left three children to continue his legacy, and continue spreading his beautiful message.
Martin Luther King Jr’s Son, Dexter Scott King, Has Passed Away
Martin Luther King Jr’s youngest son, Dexter Scott King, has passed away peacefully in his sleep after a tough battle against cancer. The King Center had confirmed he had passed away after a battle with prostate cancer. Dexter Scott King had lived a life following in his father’s footsteps, advocating for civil rights as well as animal rights throughout his life.
Additionally, he was passionate for a career in the creative arts, starring in movies such as “The Rosa Parks Story.” However, he had to attend to familial matters, in which he pursued activism, as well as furthering his career in the creative arts. Therefore, his death comes as an absolute blow the entire country. Heartbreak is being felt all around.

The Legacy That Survives
Dexter Scott King did not have any children in his lifetime. However, family members that survive his legacy are his devoted wife Mrs. Leah Weber King, as well as his sister and brother Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King, and Martin Luther King III. Additionally, his niece, Yolanda Renee King is another member that survives his legacy.
It saddens everyone in the country that another large figure of American History has passed away. Many are happy he will finally be with his parents and sister, but are saddened that his presence is no longer around. Dexter Scott King shall never be forgotten.
