The rental pricing in the city for Divvy scooters, bikes, annual membership, out-of-station fees, and more, will be going up on Feb. 5, 2024. The approximate percentage of increase is said to be 10%.
Moreover, the reason behind these changes is said to be due to the company including more stations, next-gen e-bikes, and scooters to their operations. These changes are meant to benefit the public so they to have a more easy experience and move more freely around the city of Chicago.
Summary of the Changes
Divvy annual members will see the following increases:
- Annual memberships increases by $143.90/per year
- Additional time beyond 45 minutes will increase by $0.18 per minute.
- E-bike fees will increase by $0.18 per minute
- Scooter fees will have an increase of $0.29 per minute
- Out-of-station fees will have an increase of $1.20 per parking event
Furthermore, Non-member Single Ride customers will see:
- No changes made to the unlock fee.
- Classic bike fees will increase by $0.18 per minute.
- E-bike fees will increased by $0.44 per minute
- Scooter fees will have an increase of $0.44 per minute
- Out-of-station fees will have an increase of $2.40 per parking event
Additionally, Non-member Day Passes will see:
- Day Pass fees will increase up to $18.10.
- Extra time fees beyond 180 minutes will have an increase of $0.18 per minute.
- E-bike fees will have an increase of $0.44 per minute.
- Scooter fees will have an increase of $0.44 per minute
- Out-of-station fees will have an increase of up to $2.40 per parking event.
Additional Information About Divvy
Furthermore, despite Divvy recently changing there pricing fee. It is important to note that this is not the first time Divvy takes a similar approach. For instance, in 2013, there initial annual passes had a cost of $75. Over the years the company continued to adjust its pricing. In March 2023, the price went from from $119 to $130.90. Now, the prices have gone up another level.
In addition, people under the Divvy Everything plan will not be affected by the price increases, according to Divvy’s website. Furthermore, this programs provides a $5 annual memberships for residents receiving financial assistance like SNAP, FAFSA, or public housing.
