World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has realized that the son of Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio is now one of the most hated heels in the business. “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, a member of Judgment Day (JD) has just shocked the world. For the first time in his career as a single competitor, Dominik Mysterio wins NXT Gold. This marks his second championship in WWE. His first was winning the WWE tag team titles with his father.
The JD has been around since after “Wrestlemania 38,” stemming from Hall of Famer “Rated R Superstar” Edge. While on the road to “Wrestlemania 38,” Edge embarked on a feud with AJ Styles leading to the formation of JD. Edge cut a promo recruiting anyone to join him on his mountain of omnipotence. The first person who heard the call was “The Punisher” and current Señor Money in the Bank Damian Priest. This came after Priest cost Styles the win via distraction.
Creating the Legacy of Dirty Dom
“The Eradicator” and current Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley joined at Backlash 2022. Afterward, they exiled Edge and added “The Prince” Finn Balor and “Dirty Dom” later that year. The legacy of Dirty Dom is just now going into full throttle being with the JD.
Dominik Mysterio won the NXT Gold which gave the JD a huge boost to the faction. By bringing the North American title to the main roster it gives the title more prestige than the NXT World Championship in its own right. In doing so, he elevated his career to the next level, stepping from his father’s shadow.
Wes Lee was merely seconds a way of retaining the title. With all roads leading to the “NXT Great American Bash” (NXTGAB) on July 30, his position was compromised. “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio winning the NXT gold had ended the record-breaking reign of former North American Champion Wes Lee — 269 days.
Prior to this match, Wes Lee was going to defend the title against Mustafa Ali. As of now the North American Championship at NXTGAB will feature “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio defending against Mustafa Ali. Who will leave the Bash as champion and what is now in store for the lineage of the NXT North American Championship we will find out on July 30.
