Trump Charged With Three Counts

Donald Trump was charged with three criminal acts. These charges consist of conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government, conspiracy against civil rights, and obstruction.

These charges set place in 2020 after the election. After losing the election, Donald Trump wanted to remain in office.

Trump serves over two extra months after Biden’s election. During this time, he would spread lies saying that there had been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that he had actually won. This indictment alleges that Trump and co-conspirators redoubled their efforts to levy false claims, exploiting the disruption of election fraud. Attempting to convince members of Congress to further delay the certification.
Florida’s Ron DeSantis directly contradicted Trump’s argument, stating that claims about the 2020 election are false. Mr. DeSantis said that none of the theories put out proved to be true.

Donald Trump Attacks Jack Smith and Judge

Donald TrumpHis supporters and he believe that freedom of speech protects everything he said. “Every single thing that President Trump is being prosecuted for involved aspirational asks – asking state legislatures, asking state governors, asking state electoral officials to do the right thing. Even asking Vice President Pence was protected by free speech,” Lauro told Fox News.

John Lauro is Trump’s lawyer.

Trump attacked Jack Smith of the special counsel and the judge assigned to his election case after they indicted him on these charges. First He takes to his Truth social account to call out jack smith for attempting to take away his first amendment rights. Naturally, Trump asks for a new judge, saying the current judge will be unfair.

Trump posts, “There is no way I can get a fair trial with the judge assigned. We will immediately be asking for [the] recusal of this judge on very powerful grounds.” In addition, he says “Deranged Jack Smith is going before his number one draft pick. The Judge of his ‘dreams’, in an attempt to take away my First Amendment rights…” on his Truth Social account.

Chutkan was assigned by former president Obama to reside over trumps case Chutkan served on the bench for almost a decade and is known for imposing some of the worst penalties on rioters who participated in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Smith’s office asked Chutkan to prohibit President Trump from publicly disclosing evidence from their investigation. prosecutors view Trump’s posts as threats. Believing they can have negative effects on witnesses.

What’s next for Trump

Donald Trump can face up to five to 20 years for these charges. Trump has denied any wrongdoing. Furthermore, he maintains Smith is engaging in election interference. He is doing this by bringing criminal charges against Trump while he looks to return to the White House. Trump says police will have him arrested Tuesday in Washington, D.C. His next trial date takes place in May 2024.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon said that the trial could begin as early as May 20. If late will go through the next federal election.

The court will hold a pretrial hearing in the case on May 14. This might take place during the 2024 election, Hurting Trump and his team.
This could go either way for Trump. Given the evidence against him and the country’s hate for him. With all odds against him, he remains hopeful and determined.
