Earthquakes Across the World
Earthquakes are a natural disaster that instills fear globally. They can devastate entire nations, leaving destruction in their path. Many people may find themselves homeless or without shelter after an earthquake. Additionally, earthquakes can result in loss of life and the disintegration of families. However, some regions have developed buildings to withstand earthquakes.
Japan, for instance, has adjusted to frequent seismic activity by engineering structures to endure severe tremors. This approach is becoming more widespread as earthquakes occur more frequently worldwide. However, the northeast region of the United States has suffered an earthquake, that left many shaken.
What Occurred in This Region?
Tremors are not usually felt around the northeast region of the United States, which is why this came as a startle for many. There was an estimated 42 million people that may have likely felt the tremors of this 4.8 magnitude earthquake. However, there have been no injuries reported as a result of the earthquake, nor was there any damage that was done in the city.
“The city has come through this earthquake in very good shape,” mentioned Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker. Despite being startled in this manner; it is not uncommon for this region to experience earthquakes. However, it always comes as a surprise to many. Also, to ensure that nothing was damaged, such as subway and train lines, there will be inspections that will be taken place to ensure that these train lines can remain operational.
The Future of This Incident
President Joe Biden has been updated on the earthquake’s impact in this region. He has confirmed that the necessary help and resources have been provided to the area. Thankfully, the earthquake was not as severe as it could have been, avoiding major destruction. This event has undoubtedly heightened awareness and preparedness for such natural occurrences in the future.
President Biden also showed his appreciate for the governors of these states, and that they had it ‘under control.’ “He’s not too concerned about it, the governor of New Jersey, so things are all right,” mentioned President Biden. However, despite them having it under control, additional assistance is always welcome.
