Fortnite players are met with bad news as Epic Games confirms its gaming platform is down. Those hoping to spend time playing the battle royale shooter during winter break are dishearted as the company investigates the issue.
Epic Games stated they were aware of the situation on their Twitter page. They are working on rectifying the problem and will “provide more info when we have a solution to bring services back online.”
Fortnite’s platform has been telling users they “do not have permission” to play the game while the issue is under investigation. A few hours ago the company began looking into the problem. Since then players have reported spotty connections.

Epic Games Store reported having issues around the same time Fornite started having problems. Users can now use the desktop launcher to play other games on the PC, however, it will not even attempt to load Fortnite. It has listed the servers as “offline.”
The outage of the popular free-to-play game is not completely surprising, especially during this time of year. However, it is notably one of the first instances of a significant outage of this kind. The company has verified the outage is not due to any sort of update.
Many of the users of the popular game have taken to Twitter to share their dissatisfaction about the issue. Cookie Boi tweeted, “OMG [Pouting face emoji – Pouting face emoji] FORTNITE SERVERS ARE DOWN!?!? I CANT BELIEVE THIS! I PLAY THIS GAME TO MAKE MONEY! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE MONEY IF THE GAME IS DOWN! [Pouting face emoji – Pouting face emoji] EPIC GAMES, YOU NEED TO GIVE EVERYONE 100000000000 VBUCKS AS COMPENSATION! [Pouting face emoji – Pouting face emoji] OR ELSE IM UNINSTALLING!”
Genie McClain replied to the companies tweet, “This is not good for a working mom at home that just wants their kids entertained for a few important meetings.”
Currently, it is unclear how long the platform will be down. The company is working on clearing up the situation as fast as they can so users can enjoy the game once again.
