Hey, my name is Genesis Nichols. I’m 16 years old. I was born on June 8, 2007, at Mount Sinai and my mother and grandmother were there. As time passed, I started not to be the only child and my wonderful siblings came.
Genesis’ Early Years
I started school attending Paderewski Elementary School for my first year of school as time went on, I started school at Cardenas which is the first building out of all three buildings. I was always a quiet child. Attending that school started to help me express myself which was my first-grade year until my second-grade year. Now on to my third grade, not a big girl school, I was kind of scared because it was going to be so much different than before but I was ready.
I started to get comfortable they made me feel like I was no different than anyone else so again now it was time for me to go into the middle school building which was my fourth-grade year I didn’t stay for all four years because something happened, which was the lost of my uncle. It was a big situation to handle including having to transfer and attend another school which was Learn Romano Butler.
However, I didn’t attend school until I was ready because I had to mentally get myself together. I then started school in August of 2021 which was my fifth grade year. Everyone was welcoming me; I was getting to know everyone.
Despite the Hurt
I was still pushing myself to keep a smile on my face, I didn’t start to communicate with anyone until about the middle of my sixth-grade year. I then graduated on June 10 2021, and was so proud of myself because I know how hurt I was with that situation happening.
No matter how long ago, it was I still feel the same way from the first day I was told now fast forward to August of 2021 I then started my high school attending North Lawndale College Prep. I was actually really ready because I’ve always heard that high school was really fun but many things come with mainly being mature.
Then when I got there, and time went on, I saw that high school is a handful. But again it’s very fun and you learn so many things and get to meet new people you’ve never knew you’ll know. It’s now 2024 and almost my senior year which makes me need to start speaking about my future and where I would like to see myself in the future I want to attend college.
Unclear but Bright Future for Genesis
I’m not sure what college I would like to attend but I know I want to attend a small college somewhere that is always pretty much cold and gets hot now and then. I would like to attend college to get my master’s degree in nursing. I know that takes a lot which means I’II have to attend college for four years including an extra two years.
But I have to make sure that I push myself and be ready for everything that comes with wanting to be a nurse. The reason I joined this program was because this program seems interesting and comes with many things I like to do, mostly writing which is interesting to me and is something that can catch my attention another thing is media that’s interesting and I’ve had a job like this right before this job and I feel like that’s what got me more into media by joining this group I hope it helps me speak out more and helps me with being more social.
