The Actors Strike
There have been many actors that have been on strike, for almost 100 complete days now. This strike involves several different aspects of filming. These include pay, the use of AI, and many other factors as well. Additionally, since it has neared its 100th day, many are beginning to wonder if there will be any action taken to resolve any of the issues that actors are striking about in the first place. However, there may be a breath of fresh air, as George Clooney, among others, are finally making a change within this system to end the strike.
What is George Clooney and Others Doing?
Since George Clooney is among one of the most successful and wealthiest actors, he is willing to help invest $50 million to end this strike. However, he is not the only one that is willing to invest money to end the strike. “George Clooney and several other top Hollywood actors offered to pay an estimated $50 million annually in increased dues in an effort to help end the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, TheWrap has learned,” according to Yahoo! Entertainment. After almost 100 days, this strike may finally be put to rest, and actors may finally be getting the answer they have been waiting for.
Additionally, they are making it to where the wealthiest actors are getting paid last, meanwhile those that are not getting paid as much get paid first. This switch is one of the many things they are doing to end this strike. George Clooney himself has mentioned this idea in further detail. “We also are suggesting a bottom-up residual structure — meaning the top of the call sheet would be the last to collect residuals, not the first. These negotiations will be ongoing, but we wanted to show that we’re all in this together and find ways to help close the gap on actors getting paid,” according to WBAL11 TV News. Therefore, Clooney is completely invested in this idea, and is willing to lay down some money for the other actors.
Who Are The Other Actors That Are Investing?
As aforementioned, George Clooney is not the only actor that is investing in this plan. Emma Stone, Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson “were among the prominent guild members who met with union leaders Fran Drescher and Duncan Crabtree-Ireland,” according to CNN Entertainment. These are very high figures in the filming industry. There may be many more that continue to join in on this movement. However, only time will tell if others will get involved and invest some money.

The Future of This Strike and the Industry
There is a hope in the filming industry, that this is the beginning of a much needed change. Additionally, there is a hope that this investment will end the strike that is currently ongoing as well. However, only time will tell if the strike will persist. However, it may come to an end after these investments. Clearly, wealthier actors are looking out for those that are not being paid as much for the work they do. Actors understand each other, and know that the work that they do can be extremely difficult. Therefore, this strike may very well be the change that many striking actors are looking for.
However, there may be some that are not in favor of this particular change, and may continue to strike nonetheless. However, even then, at least those actors that get paid more, continue to show interest in those that do not get nearly as much as they do. All actors understand each other, and are willing to lend a helping hand in times of need.
