Issue Behind The Presume Shutdown
Washington is at this very moment rushing to passed a spending bill before there Oct, 1 deadline. If the bill is not passed before the deadline there will be a shutdown. For this reason before the government runs out of money the senate is rushing to passed the bill in an attempt to prevent the shutdown from happening. The spending bill will include $6.2 billion in Ukraine aid and it will also keep the government funded until November 17. The bill will include an additional $6 billion that will go towards natural disasters.
Additionally, statistics show that since 1980 there has only been in total 14 federal government shutdowns. When a government shutdown happens many different things come to a stop. For example, federal departments, agencies and programs all come to a stop. As well as workers and employees who are not under an exemption in case a shutdown comes into play are also suspended from any activates. However, in this case there is nothing to worry about as it is speculated that if a shutdown does indeed happen it will only be brief, according to Bill Hoagland, senior vice president at the Bipartisan Policy Center.

Possibly Affected Programs
It is also said that the bill at this moment is unlikely to affect or shutdown programs like Social Security and Medicare. Since, they are considered mandatory spending’s and a checks still need to continue to go out. Older adults under Medicare and Social Security are also expected to not be affect by the shutdown. However, if by any chance the shutdown is prolonged, disability programs are expected to be affected more depending on how long the shutdown is extended to. Furthermore, some government activities that can possibly be affected due to the shutdown include:
- Benefit Verifications.
- Earning record corrections and updates.
- Payee accountings.
- Prisoner activities — Suspension and more.
Essential Services
The same way a shutdown can affect programs activities. There is also many government operations that can not be touched by a shutdown as they are deemed as “essential”. For example, many of their essential operations that can not be touched by a shutdown as they are necessary to protect public safety, national security and are consider critical for numerous reasons, include:
- Border protection.
- Federal law enforcement.
- And air traffic control.
However, the exception of many activities and programs does not exclude million active-duty military member. Who will not be receiving a pay check until the shutdown concludes. As well as civilian Defense Department employees.
Do Not Feel Alarmed
This is what you should now A shutdown is not as sever as it sounds for does individuals that do not know what a shutdown consist of or what it does here is some information. A shutdown has little to know effect on investments and consumer spending.
The effect of a shutdown is only more visible in the delay pf payments to public resources. However, the federal wage payments only represent 2% of GPD. Moreover, despite the shutdown may federal agents can still continue to work and get paid as well. On the other hand, the negative effect of a shutdown was more offset in the ensuing period by a boost to economic growth.
A shutdown is only temporary and even though it might feel like a long time period as some shutdown have been reporter to last minimum one month and a little over that. A shutdown is not forever eventually after the shutdown is over services and activities will resume to normal.
