Has Whoopi Goldberg’s ‘Give a Damn’ Button Busted

From Insensitive Comments to Slamming Shows Then Scolds Brian Teta, a 'View' Producer Live on Air

Recently, Whoopi Goldberg — co-host of ABC’s “The View” — has made headlines for various things, and not all of them are good. This week she has managed to show once again her “Give a Damn” button is busted. This time she has slammed another ABC show “American Idol” for being “the beginning of the downfall of society.” In mid-rant, she paused to scold “The View’s” producer Brian Teta for some unknown action. “…did you really just do that?” Goldberg stated with a look of disbelief.

Goldberg’s Wrongful Comments About the Holocaust

In February 2022, she was suspended from “The View” for a brief time over her “wrong and hurtful comments” about the Holocaust. During a conversation with her co-hosts, Goldberg commented that the Holocaust wasn’t about race.

GoldbergLater she apologized for her comments. However, in December she brought it back up saying that the Holocaust wasn’t “originally about race.” Again, she apologized for the comment, only this time receive no disciplinary action from ABC.

The Holocaust was the Nazis’ and their collaborators’ attempt to murder all the Jewish people in Europe. Beginning in 1933, Nazis used propaganda, persecution, and legislation to deny Jews human and civil rights in Germany. They began the systematic murder of Europe’s Jews in 1941. The Nazis called it “The Final Solution to the Jewish Problem.” By the end of the Holocaust in 1945, six million Jewish children, women, and men had been murdered.

Insert Foot to Mouth

In March 2023, Goldberg faced a bit of backlash for using a slang word that perpetuates a negative stereotype about the Romani people. The word she said, “gypped,” is commonly used to describe when a person feels cheated.

The term comes from the word “Gypsy,” a derogatory name for the Romani (also known as the Roma). Throughout history, they faced millions of baseless accusations of theft and child abduction.

In a video posted on social media, Goldberg apologized for using the term, saying she should have thought before speaking.

You know, when you’re a certain age, you use the words that you know from when you were a kid or you remember saying, and that’s what I did today, and I shouldn’t have.

Recent Slip-Up

During a panel discussion about Anna Nicole Smith’s documentary “You Don’t Know Me,” Goldberg spoke about society’s obsession with judging others. She then stated that she felt “the downfall of society” began with a certain show that she asked what the name was. “The View’s” producer called out “ABC’s American Idol.” To which Goldberg replied, it hadn’t always been part of the network, that it originated on another one before Fox.

Her fellow panelists along with the producer encouraged Goldberg to stay positive about their network’s show. Goldberg explained ABC knew how she felt about the show that began.

As the co-host was explaining how she felt giving people the okay to judge others was a bad idea, she paused to scold the producer. The camera panned to Brian Teta and he stated that he and Goldberg had previously spoken about the situation.

I’m saying, we’ve talked about this, that it’s gotten better, you like it now. Remember?

Goldberg shot back that when she had watched the show it wasn’t on ABC. She added that the show is now “very different.” Before signing off for a commercial break she added, “ABC knows that I feel like this. I’ve told them. It had nothing to do with them, it had to do with the show. See, you starting stuff, man. We’ll be right back.”

GoldbergGoldberg Goes Off on Target and Products Celebrating Pride

Recently Target has decided to have their southern locations move or tamper down items for Pride Month to the back of the stores. They decided to do this in the hope of preventing a “Bud Light Situation,” according to Fox.

Two days ago, “The View” brought up the Target topic. Fired up, Goldberg stated that she was “sick of people moving my desires because their desires are not being met in some way.” She continued on by saying she didn’t like people telling her she couldn’t “go to a drag show.”

Sick of People

That she was “sick” of others saying that her “friends are different.” Overall, she was just tired of other people dictating how people should feel or what they should be doing.

This is America. You’re supposed to be able to be whoever you are. You know, stop with all this stuff. You want to talk about snowflakes? Who are the snowflakes really?

Snowflake is a derogatory term used to describe a white person.

Needless to say, social media has been buzzing with comments about Goldberg’s comments and “The View.” Many are shocked that the show is still on since the theme as of late seems to be a bit judgemental in itself. Others are shocked and appalled by Goldberg’s lack of self-control as of late.
