Last week Apple announced that the iPhone 15 and 15 pro is now available for preorder starting at $799 and $999. Apple also introduced a new charging port that requires USB-C. Although Apple has its signature lightning charger, USB-C will provide faster charging and longer-lasting batteries.
Design
Additionally, the phone comes in the colors black, blue, green, yellow, and pink. The iPhone 15 has rounded corners with a curved design. They are also water and dust-resistant.
These phones are designed with titanium and glass compared to older phones that use aluminum and glass. The phone weighs 171 to 201 grams, which is slightly smaller than older models.
The 15 contains a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 2556‑by‑1179-pixel resolution. The 15 pro contains a 6.7‑inch OLED display with a 2796‑by‑1290-pixel resolution.
Moreover, the changes to the design allow cheaper repair costs. This is very beneficial for customers as the price to replace a screen went from over $500 to just $200!
CPU
Apple claims their iPhone 15 Pro’s processor will show the best performance of any smartphone currently on the market since they contain a new chip designed by Apple.
Powered by the A17 Pro chip that includes six gigabytes of RAM and a 6-core GPU with performance and efficiency cores. It will support hardware-accelerated ray tracing which is a method used in graphics rendering to generate high-quality images by simulating the path of light and its interactions with virtual objects. This is to provide consumers with the best gaming experience possible.
Only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will contain the A17 Pro chip. These phones can contain from 128 to 500 gigabytes of storage.
Camera
There are two cameras on the phone. The main camera is 48mp (megapixels) and the other is 12mp. This allows smart HDR 5, which will make phones take nine shots and turn them into one photo. Additionally, the new camera models contain a sapphire crystal lens cover.
These will also provide an ultra-wide 120-degree view. Furthermore, there is a zoom range of four times and digital zoom allows it to times ten.
On the iPhone 15, 4k and 1080p video recordings will be up to 60fps (frames per second).On the other hand 720p videos will be at 30fps. The new cinematic mode allows 4k HD recording 30 frames per second.
Moreover, video recordings have digital zoom up to six times and provide audio zoom.
Gaming features
With the new chip in the devices, Apple plans to make gaming on iPhone as good as consoles. This will allow AAA games like “Assassin’s Creed” and “Resident Evil” to be played.
This feature alone proves gaming to be better as the Nintendo Switch does not run those games. Phones will be compatible with most game controllers.
As of now the CPU in the phones are on par with the kind of processors used in the Steam Deck and other portable gaming systems.
