Is the Apocalypse Upon Us?

The End of Time Could Be Near

The increase in violence and odd weather around the world has many people believing the apocalypse is here. Some think the four horsemen have started their descent on mankind. Apocalyptic theorists believe the seven seals of the apocalypse began years ago. It could have begun with the killing of Jesus Christ or the fall of Rome. However, it started it is safe to believe the world is quickly going to hell in a handbasket.

The Downhill Spiral into the Apocalypse

It is no secret that violence, war, hatred, and war have run amuck for decades, even centuries. From the stealing of land and the savage killing of the First Americans to slavery; despair and pain have been felt all around.

Former United States President Donald Trump’s words are believed to incite a riot in 2021. His words, or the lack thereof, caused his followers to protest President Biden’s being sworn into office. It also led to damages to the Capitol building and people being injured.

ApocalypseMore recently, Vladimir Putin sent the Russian army to invade Ukraine over a year ago. The tension between the two countries has been ongoing for over nine years.

Now, mix in the growing cases of police brutality and gun violence, and there are the makings of an apocalypse.

Police Brutality

In 2022, the police were responsible for 1,195 people. Of those individuals, 26% were Black despite the fact they only represent 13% of the population. So far this year they have killed 320 people and it’s only April. Furthermore, 95% of America’s major city police departments kill Black individuals at a higher rate than their white counterparts. Additionally, of those killed by police, 33% were terminated while fleeing. Moreover, Black and Brown individuals are more likely to be killed while fleeing than white people.

On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin. Other officers stood by as Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for over nine minutes.

Breonna Taylor was shot to death by Louisville police officers on March 13, 2020. Officers conducted a forced entry warrant when they shot Taylor as she lay in her bed.

Other Signs of the Apocalypse

ApocalypseAnother sign the apocalypse is here would be the rise in mass shootings across the nation. So far the year 2023 has seen at least 146 mass shootings, including the ones that just happened in Maine. This number is more than the past four years during the same time period — January through February.

Moreover, two teenage boys murdered four people and injured 32 others over this past weekend. What should have been a joyous occasion, a Sweet 16 birthday party, was turned into terror and sorrow. One of the murdered victims was the birthday girl’s older brother.

Apocalypse signs can also be seen in various shootings throughout the U.S. and the world. On April 15, 2023, 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis was murdered when the vehicle she was in accidentally turned into the wrong driveway. Gillis, her boyfriend Blake Walsh, and two of his friends were looking for a party when they turned into the wrong driveway. That’s when 65-year-old Kevin Monahan opened fire on the vehicle as it exited the driveway. One of the bullets hit Gillis in the next and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Seeing the Apocalypse Signs in the Weather

Climate change has been a heated topic for several years. As the weather changes so do the chances of global warming. Extreme weather like severe tornados, hurricanes, torrential rains, and heat waves wreak havoc on the world.

As the heat rises, ice caps begin to melt, and sea levels begin to rise. This may seem minuscule at the moment but in the long run, it is scary. When the weather gets hotter people begin to imagine an apocalypse scenery.

There is no way to know for sure if the apocalypse is truly here or not but it sure seems like the signs are there. Better gun control, more mental health sources, and becoming more observant of the climate are ways to turn things around. However, with civil unrest and war, there is no way to know if the end of time is near.
