Israel Conflict
Israel has promised to respond after Iran initiated a significant missile attack, launching numerous ballistic missiles at various locations within Israel, marking a severe intensification of the conflict that seems to be rapidly escalating.
“Iran has made a grave error tonight, and it will face the consequences,” Benjamin Netanyahu declared during a late Tuesday meeting of his security cabinet. “The regime in Iran fails to grasp our resolve to protect ourselves and our resolve to respond to our adversaries.”
The Iranian launch of over 180 ballistic missiles occurred less than a day following the Israeli prime minister’s directive for the most extensive ground incursion into southern Lebanon in decades.
Guardian journalists in Jerusalem observed numerous missiles soaring towards Israel’s major coastal cities in a significant assault shortly after 7:30 pm, with the rocket engines distinctly visible from the ground.
Air raid sirens echoed throughout Israel as missiles, intercepted by Israeli air defenses, painted the night sky with red and gold streaks. Meanwhile, other intact missiles seemed to carry on towards the coastal and central regions of Israel, accompanied by the sounds of far-off blasts.
Minutes before the strike commenced, at least two assailants in the coastal city of Jaffa, Israel, carried out an attack resulting in six fatalities and ten injuries, escalating fears that the increasing spiral of violence might precipitate terror attacks within Israel.
Israel’s military reported no awareness of injuries resulting from the missile attacks. However, the Palestinian civil defense authority in the Israeli-occupied West Bank reported a fatality near Jericho, with rocket debris causing damage and igniting fires in the vicinity.
Iran vs Israel
Iran has stated that it launched missiles at three Israeli military bases in retaliation for a series of Israeli strikes in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah, which have caused significant destruction in Beirut’s southern suburbs and villages in the south of the country.
Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, perished in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut last Friday, significantly impacting the militant organization.
Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, praised the attack as “a decisive response to the aggression of the Zionist regime,” stating: “Netanyahu should understand that Iran is not aggressive, but will stand strong against any threat… Do not provoke a conflict with Iran.”
Senior officials reported to Reuters that the directive to launch missiles at Israel originated from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict were declining swiftly, with mutual assaults threatening to inflame the Middle East. This situation arose shortly after the US and France suggested a 21-day ceasefire to mediate between the parties in dispute.
Global leaders have urged caution, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres has denounced the continuous escalation in the region.
On Going War
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have characterized the Iranian assault as grave and have pledged retaliation. The United States has also cautioned that Iran will face repercussions for initiating the attack, heightening the possibility of a direct clash between Tehran and Washington.
US destroyers stationed in the eastern Mediterranean Sea intercepted several missiles fired by the middle east
, according to US defense officials. The ships present include the USS Arleigh Burke, USS Cole, and USS Bulkeley. Additional destroyers are positioned in the Red Sea.
According to Israeli military sources, the air force is set to carry out extensive strikes across the Middle East on Tuesday night.
The White House earlier warned it had “indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack” against Israel. The state department later said there had been no warning from Tehran, although some reports suggested the Iranians had told the Russians what they were planning.
The ground incursion signifies the first sustained operation by Israeli forces in

Lebanon since 2006, following a peace agreement that concluded a 34-day conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the Shia militia with significant control over southern Lebanon.

In the initial explicit demands following the military incursion, Israeli authorities on Monday directed the inhabitants of approximately 30 villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate. An Israeli military spokesperson instructed individuals to relocate north of the Awali River, about 35 miles (55km) from the demarcation line between the two nations, as the IDF focused on what it termed Hezbollah’s “attack infrastructure” along the UN demarcation.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in a meeting with UN officials on Tuesday, described the current situation as “one of the most perilous periods in Lebanon’s history.” He stated that approximately one million Lebanese have been displaced as a result of the destructive war that Israel has launched against Lebanon.
