Famous actor Julian Sands had gone missing since January after a hiking trip in Mount Baldy. He has now been found dead on that mountain.
Julian’s Life
Julian was born in Otley, Yorkshire, and started his acting career after college. Julian acted in films such as The Killing Fields. He later caught the eye of James Ivory, a movie director. He then cast him in the adaptation film EM Forster’s novel “A Room With A View.” Julian got his first notable movie role in the film “The Sun Also Rises” in 1984. He also played other big roles on TV, such as “The Medallion” in 2003, and “Smallville” in 2009, where he played Jor-El who is Superman’s biological father.
Sands later became friends with actor John Malkovich. He later introduced Julian to his now-wife, Evgenia Citkowitz. They had two children and lived in North Hollywood. He was always choosing roles in movies that could somewhat relate to him and his life. He loved his job and was always happy to work.
Tragedy Strikes
On January 13, 2023, 65-year-old Julian Sands went on a hiking trip to Mountain Baldy. Located roughly 45 miles from downtown L.A. stated by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department. Sarah Jackson, Julian Sands manager, spoke out about this last Tuesday saying “he died in a place he loved, doing what he loved.”
Ever since he disappeared, the police have been searching for him all over that area. There were people volunteering to search for him as well. Julian was being searched for on Earth and in the air, with no immediate results. Officials have said that during the time of his hike, the mountain was left wet and icy because of the storms that were going on in that area.
On Saturday, five months after Sand’s disappearance, some people that were also hiking in that mountain made a shocking discovery and alerted the police right away. They said they found what seems to be decaying human remains. The remains were then taken to the coroner’s office so they can be identified. They have been recently identified as belonging to Julian.
His Memory Lives On
Julian Sands is known for being a free-spirited person who loved the outdoors. He was once asked when was the happiest time for him and he replied, “Close to a mountain summit on a glorious cold morning.”. All of his loved ones describe him as an amazing person who loved and cared for everyone. “We are filled with the most beautiful memories,” said Jackson. He is said to be a great friend by everyone, and they are all honored to have been a part of his life.
Julian was a person who loved life and nature. And had so much more to explore in the world, but unfortunately, life had other plans for him. He loved his wife and children, which he, unfortunately, will be leaving behind. He will forever be remembered by everyone he loved and those that loved him. Julian Sands touched the hearts of many people in the world and impacted the movie industry. And even though he has passed, his memory will live on through his wife and children.
