Abandonment of Her Child
A mother of a 1-year-old child decided she would go on vacation, leaving her baby at home unattended. She went to Detroit, and then she went to Puerto Rico. There was obvious carelessness when it came to making this decision to leave her child at home, in a playpen. Her baby was left without food, water, or anything of the sort. This poor baby was left this way for 10 straight days and was suffering for such a long time. The mother, Kristel Candelario, has not shown much remorse for her actions, as she clearly prioritized a vacation over her own child.
A Mother’s Selfishness
The judge, Brendan Sheehan, was visibly infuriated with the case that lay before her. She made sure that Kristel Candelario received the maximum sentence for the selfishness displayed. “Just as you didn’t let Jailyn out of her confinement, so too you should spend the rest of your life in a cell without freedom,” mentioned Judge Sheehan, as she was laying out the sentence.
Kristel Candelario was only apologizing because she had gotten caught committing this terrible act. The fact that she also tried to play it off, saying that she did not know what had happened to her baby was absolutely disgusting on many levels.
What Has Kristel Candelario Said About This Incident?
She has made it abundantly clear that she only has her best interests in mind. “I’m extremely hurt about everything that happened. I am not trying to justify my actions, but nobody knew how much I was suffering and what I was going through … God and my daughter have forgiven me,” according to Kristel Candelario herself, after doing what she did.
Many are absolutely infuriated after hearing the proceedings of this ruling and are truly hateful towards her. She completely abandoned her daughter and is still making it seem as if she had done nothing wrong. However, no jail sentence is over going to bring back this innocent baby, who did not deserve to die whatsoever, especially in this tragic manner. It is unclear what the future of this incident is going to look like for Kristel.
