Los Angeles experienced a daring cash robbery on April 5, in which criminals opened a safe and stole up to $30 million. The robbery has sparked widespread theories among society, with long infatuated with daring burglaries and big criminal profits.

Details On The Los Angeles Heist And Facility’s Holding The Cash

Los Angeles police and the FBI were secretive Friday, April 5th regarding the latest developments in their joint investigation. Thereafter, law enforcement Commander Elaine Morales informed The Los Angeles Times, that first reported the burglary, said the criminals were able to gain entry to the money’s safety facility in the suburban Sylmar neighborhood.

Thereafter according to news reports, the facility GardaWorld, a global financial administration and security organization. The Canadian corporation, who also manages armored car vehicles, also did not instantly answer to The Associated Press’s request.

What Do Experts Have To Say About The Robbery?

Jim McGuffey, a vehicle armor and physical security expert, described the robbery as “a shock.” Jim McGuffey recommended that every such institution in Los Angeles should include two alarm systems. A seismic motion detector on the safe, and extra motion sensors throughout the building.  Jim McGuffey the Associated Press, “You don’t just walk in and walk out with it for that kind of money.”

Randy Sutton, a former police detective who looked into advanced robberies and serious crimes, said a crime like this would’ve probably taken over several months. As well as included a large number of people. Randy Sutton claimed, “A great deal of research and enormous amount of technical expertise concerning the evasion of security systems and surveillance.”

Randy Sutton stated that most of the money at a facility, the one run by GardaWorld, in Los Angeles, may not be traceable. It is already in circulation for a while until it comes straight from the U.S. Treasury.

According to Scott Andrew Selby, co-author of “Flawless: Inside the Largest Diamond Heist in History”. “All the signs of a really carefully planned job” carried out by a “skilled crew.” Based on similar large-scale thefts, he added, it is likely that the thieves possessed some inside information.

Selby stated that the traceability of the money is contingent upon the existence of serial number records. Selby also claimed it is difficult to launder detectable money and conceal gains obtained unfairly.

“There is are many possibilities to make mistakes and get exposed as technology develops and the world gets smaller,” Selby explained. “With contact DNA, every little mistake can reveal a crew member’s identity, enabling authorities ultimately identify their associates.”

Regardless of the amount of the bills, such a large quantity of cash would prove challenging to handle and transport. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed specifics of the stolen cash.

A U.S. Treasury official testified before Congress that the weight of $1 million in $100 bills itself is approximately 22 pounds. The mass of $1 million might be approximately 250 pounds (115 kilograms). When divided into several denominations, such as $5, $10, and $20 bills it would increase the total weight of 7,500 pounds (3,400 kilograms).

Largest Cash Heist Within U.S History

The robbery of the Central Bank of Iraq following the U.S. invasion in 2003 is considered to be the largest cash theft in history.  Other significant cash heists in Europe and South America, but this crime in Los Angeles would rank amongst the biggest ever committed in the United States.

The greatest cash theft in American history at the time was the 1997 Los Angeles Dunbar over $19 million. Utilizing the assistance of a previous worker at the plant, a group of five armed criminals dressed in black clothing and masks tied up a number of employees at the plant during that heist. Despite the fact that all five of the offenders were apprehended after years of investigation.

Brink’s big rig at a gas station in Southern California had up to $100 million worth of jewels and other valuables were taken.

Cash Heist In The Televised Culture

Big game heists have long captured people’s interest by the prominent role these illegal operations play. The 1978 Los Angeles, Lufthansa heist, subsequently in which the gangsters stole just under $6 million in cash and jewels. Which at the time was the biggest U.S. and Los Angeles robbery at the time.
